Our lunch stop after a great day of cycling at the Col de la Forclaz with a phenomenal view over the lake. "Le Balcon du Lac" lives up to its name: from two terraces, you have a perfect view of the entire Lake Annecy. The interior and the upper floors are extremely rustic and modern. The lower roof terrace is perfect for a daytime stop. Under large awnings and umbrellas, you can enjoy a shady view of the entire lake. If you want to enjoy a fine dining experience here in the evening, you should definitely reserve a week in advance in the summer, otherwise all the tables with a lake view are already booked. During the day, however, you can always find a spot on the terrace, where you can enjoy snacks and drinks. The restaurant and the view are definitely...

The view from the terrace is a 10+. We had four different entree’s across 5 people. The steaks were just ok but the phenomenal view overpowers everything else. My wife and I had salads that were incredibly fresh and delicious (but a little heavy on the dressing).

Service was excellent & friendly.

You’ll need reservations to sit right at the railing. We were in the row of tables one back. Still spectacular. We had several paragliders sail right past us while we ate as the takeoff point is just above the restaurant.

It’s a little over a 20 minute drive from the middle of Annecy, but sooo worth it. Bring a sweater/jacket as it can get...
