!!!!RUN FROM THIS PLACE!!!! (While you can)
First of all, let’s start at the beginning.
So when arriving at the restaurant at 18:30 (opening time set on google), we were met with a closed gate. We joined a group of people who also waited to enter the restaurant’s premises when we noticed that the staff was just having a fun time until they decided that they were going to open the restaurant (19:10). At this point we could already hear weird noises coming for the establishment such as chicken, cow and pork noises (noise made by staff)
Once seated the staffs behavior was that of a group of 9 year olds. Again chicken, cow and pork noises being made by them. Opening bottles of wine with their mouth (not even a joke). And to top it all of a lot of loud swearing and even talking about how some female customers (even married ones accompanied by their loved ones) were wh** (girls that would do * for money).
And if this wasn’t already the worst restaurant that I have been to in my life. The pasta pesto rosso & gambas was definitely pre cooked and served cold. (Time between order and service wasn’t even the time for the pasta to cook)
The only good thing about this restaurant was the water (because it was a sealed bottle). And maybe the view (difficult to enjoy with this type of staff)
In this case I hope that the staff was on psychedelics (which isn’t great, but better than considering this was their normal state).
If you can, avoid this place! Otherwise find a tactic to leave as fast as possible. (And also getting ripped off obviously, because why not. It wouldn’t be fun...
Read moreWe visited Aquarama as a group of 12, having made the booking for an "outside table beside the water" one month in advance as a celebration for an engagement. When we arrived, the staff told us we could not sit outside due to rain, which we understood, but instead were offered 2 tables of 6 indoors. They were not very apologetic and would not allow us to join the tables together. There were also a lot of available tables outside under cover (and many guests dining outside already) - enough empty tables beside each other to create a table of 12 - but the staff insisted they could not do this for us. After a lot of back and forth, they joined 2 high tables together outside and we were able to dine as one table without overhead cover. The empty tables under cover remained empty for the duration of our meal, so it was obvious the staff had either decided not to offer us these tables for no particular reason , or the guests did not show up. This was a really disappointing start to our meal and as we were unnecessarily made to feel like such a nuisance we considered leaving.
I am glad we did not leave however as we then met our server Samuel who was an absolute legend. He spoke amazing English, was very attentive and took a genuine interest in our party! He accommodated dietary requests, and we ended up having a great meal largely down to his service. The food was good quality also, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was just a shame the start of our experience was so difficult but thank you so much to Sam for...
Read moreWe were staying in Menthon Saint Bernard for a few days holiday and I found this restaurant online and it looked beautiful so my boyfriend and I decided to hire some bikes and cycle to the restaurant for lunch. We are not cyclists so it took us a couple of hours to eventually get there and on arrival we saw the place was closed (no mention of this was made on their website which stated they were open!). Anyway, we were on holiday, it was a beautiful warm, sunny day and we didn't want to feel too disappointed about it. We just had a laugh about it and decided we wanted to take a picture outside the restaurant as a memory of the day. Unfortunately this didn't happen though as the manager, who was standing by the lake with some friends of his fishing and drinking, ran up to the restaurant and started having a huge go at us for taking pictures of ourselves outside the restaurant when it was closed! He was so rude and claimed that because he lives above the restaurant, we cannot take pictures there because the restaurant is his home! Well I presume it is also his home when the restaurant is open and serving so are no pictures allowed on site?! Anyway, I am pleased we never got the chance to eat there despite the stunning location. Hopefully some day there will be a new manager with an attitude as wonderful as the location but until then, my advice is to eat at one of the other beautiful locations on Lake Annecy and avoid this place as they don't value...
