After wandering through the picturesque town of Tonerre, I decided to stop here after seeing an exciting set menu on a chalk board for âŹ24 per person. The meal started out very well: the speedy service ensured I had my drink within 5 minutes and my starter within 10. This is where the real highlight of Le Pâtit Gourmand was - the food. To start I had a delicious and exciting quiche de jambon et fromage with the crispiest and most buttery pastry youâve ever tasted. What made this quiche unique was the perfect balance between the tanginess of the goatâs cheese and the saltiness of the ham. Following that I chose the filet mignon with potatoes and carrot purĂ©e. For me, this was the highlight of the meal: the filet mignon practically melted in my mouth and the balance between the earthiness of the carrot purĂ©e and potatoes with the richness of the filet mignon was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately it was at this point that the dining experience went downhill and the waiters seemed to lose interest in my table. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes before we asked for our table to be cleared away and for the dessert menu, despite several waiters walking past our table and seeing we were finished. For pudding, I had a tarte aux poires with vanilla ice cream, which was delicious and not too sweet which I appreciated. However, it was not enough to make up for the frankly poor service that I received. Itâs really a pity because had the service lived up to the quality of food, this restaurant would really be something quite special and exciting. The waitress didnât want to acknowledge the dirty glass even though it was obvious. I had to insist of it to be changed.
