Restaurant La Pen'tière — Restaurant in Avesnes-sur-Helpe

It's a nice place next to the road. Easy if you are on the way and don't want to go out of the route too much to eat. We chose it because it's open until late (if we talk about french meaning of "late"). The staff was really nice and the food was okey, they had a variety of meat dished and a quite good grilling space. The decoration is a bit weird, lots of chicken or duck statues, paintings and other stuff. Probably is a wise desition to book a table in advance, even it was the middle of the week it was packed. The place and the menu strike you as a very good meat and grill restaurant but it is not worth it. The grilling system is wrong, the lady is grilling everything one by one and by the time our food arrived, already two hours have passed. Unfortunately it was not worth the wait. The most expensive dish on the menu was tasteless and chewy. The meat was full of nerves and tendons, half of the meat was not edible. It is overpriced given the long wait and quality of the food. But the ambiance is nice. Hopefully never come...

The food was really nice and the people were really friendly. You could see them preparing our meals on the grill inside the restaurant. That gave it an extra touch.

The food was prepared just like we ordered, not too well done for me, and well done for my wife.

The plastic wraps over the table were not that romantic to have. Would be better if they weren't on them.
