Le BISTROT DE COCO — Restaurant in Avignon

We tried to visit Bistro De Coco and read through their website before doing so. Unfortunately we were not able to find any information about the need to reserve a table at the restaurant before a visit. This might have been our mistake as we do not speak French and relied on Google translate of the website entirely.

However once we came the place was about 1/4 full and thus we sat at one of the free tables. We passed 1 server on our way to the table and greeting him with no avail. Once again might be our fault since we dont speak French and he might not have understood us.

After about 2 minutes the chef came out and told us not so nicely that we would have to reserve a table before sitting down and told us to leave. We asked him whether he had some spare tables since most of them were free without any sign of a reservation. To this he replied that it is not possible.

After about 5 minutes after leaving I called there trying to see if they were indeed fully booked and was told that we could Come and that they have spare tables free.

I can not review the food and thus I am not issuing a rating for the food but merely for the service and atmosfere.

We are foreigners in this country and dont know local customs, however in the other restaurants we went to it was not necessary to reserve a seat beforehand. I am sorry if we misunderstood some thing but to our best effort we were not able to find a reserve First...

Food is high quality. Unfortunately service was not great.

Our food was served quickly but we had to wait a long time to get my daughters meal (and ask three times). It’s never a good sign when your daughter is standing at the door of a restaurant saying ‘I want my fish and chips…’ !

I got the impression that they don’t have enough experienced staff as there was one waitress who seemed to have to...

Had a lovely lunch in the shade on the terrace next to a little creek. Though arriving without a reservation, we were seated immediately. The staff was friendly and accommodating (one of us used a wheelchair). Lastly, the food was delicious, something we'd definitely like to come back...
