It was a slow night. The server was nice and polite at the table but we could see them fooling around wasting the slow time by making faces back and forth with someone in the kitchen.
The baked oysters came out quickly and they were absolutely delightful, dripping in creamy, lemony butter with the sour hit of the apple chunks. Should have stopped there. Next came one of the most bland and tasteless dishes I have ever had: a quenelle. For a dish with the texture of a sponge it was surprisingly heavy to eat. It would have been better to have the quenelle as a smaller side dish next to a more vibrant main. It didn't have what was needed to be the star of the show and the quenelle was sent back unfinished. The quality of the food was good as you might expect for the price, plates were well constructed (but the veal had a bit too much fat, peas were a bit undercooked).
