We arrived late at omaha beach and this was the only place still open at 9pm on a Saturday night. Very sleepy place. We arrived a half hour before the stated closing time and were not given a warm welcome to say the least. A very stressed man reluctantly cleared a table for us. Two others shortly behind us were briskly rejected. They seem to have an aversion to good business.
Looking at the menu and some of the dishes around, our expectations were low. They have about 20 entrees and 20 main dishes, 15 varieties of desserts and some daily specials, plus some other offers. I suspect none of them are good. Why do restaurants still feel they have to offer a thousand different dishes or variations of the same thing?
Anyway, we safeguarded and ordered the fish and chips. The fish was dry, bland, tasteless and the crust was mealy and soft. Chips were dry and completely tasteless. Like cardboard. The tartar sauce was, well I don't really know what it was. We forced ourselves to eat half of the fish and chips with the condiments supplied on the table (ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper) to get some flavours. My beer was also quite tepid.
We left 30 minutes after we walked in the door, 40 euros poorer. Stay away, even if it's your last resort. I would rather starve to be frank. As we were leaving a dog was walking around the restaurant without a leash and jumped up to grab the counter. No-one seemed to care.
On a positive note the cider was good and the complementary bread was okay. A very friendly girl who was serving us seemed really sorry we had such a bad experience and apologised. It was not her fault at all. This place needs a total makeover of their menu, kitchen...
Read morereview is for the restaurant. Don't be fooled, this isn't the place you are looking for. To begin, there is no "sea side" charm as you are a block from the ocean and there is absolutely no sense of being near the sea while dining. (Not much in the food either.) I arrived at about 8:30 and was surprised to get the feeling that I wasn't really wanted as a customer. I waited for a table (there were plenty open) and then was placed at a large round table in a poor spot. I was dining alone. Plenty of smaller tables were available. No problem, I thought. I came here because the reviews for the sole meunière were good. So I ordered. that, the bisque and a glass of sancerre. A few minutes later I was informed that there was no more sole. I got the distinct impression that they simply didn't want to cook one of the more time consuming dishes. The rest of the menu wasn't very interesting. I wound up with mussels. A big heap of tiny tiny mussels. Lots of work for little gain. Not much flavor in them, but at least they weren't tough.
The sancerre was a dud. A little bit on the front palate and then it disappeared. No acidity. euro 6.50.
2 stars for the decent bisque, -1 star for everything else.

Read moreWe stayed here in mid-August 2020. I was with my two teenage boys and the setup of the room was perfect for us. They each had a single bed in an upstairs loft area. My bed downstairs was just fine and we also had a lovely little patio area. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and in good condition. Wifi was very good. ||||The location is perfect if you want to visit Omaha beach and surrounding sites. It was about a 1 minute walk from the hotel and to get to the monument of Omaha beach, about 15 minutes walk. We visited a number of other sites in the area and this hotel was well situated to do this. It would be helpful to have a car if you want to tour around. The region is beautiful.||||We did not eat at the restaurant but did use the take-away window for lunch, which offered very tasty baguette sandwiches (at good prices), and more. ||||We had a lovely time and can highly recommend this hotel! We are so grateful we got do to a bit of touring/ vacation before the 2nd wave of Covid came. (The hotel staff and guests followed Covid regulations and we felt...
