Le Débarquement des SAVEURS — Restaurant in Bayeux

So hopeful based on other reviews!!! Decor was charming, with a very diverse menu. Service was sadly very short and uncomfortable. Another table was sat near us, and the service experience was completely different (and uncomfortably obvious.) We were certainly from out of town, however are more than happy to diligently and respectfully speak French. Despite the service experience, the pizzas were quite fast, and served nice and hot. They were a bit on the doughy side, with good flavors to the components, but the overall combination lacking in overall texture of the crust. Coming from Italy, we might have been expecting more than we should have. I would perhaps recommend another dining option in town if...

Arrived without reservation on a Tuesday evening (to be noted because on Sundays and Mondays a lot of restaurants are closed). There was two of us and both had burgers: Le Classic and Le Roquefort and they were exceptional! The bread was fresh and fragrant, the meat was well cooked and the cheeses very nice! Also, the frites were very crunchy and for sure cooked in a good quality oil. Also, the waiter has been very kind and friendly and we spent a little talking to him. The restaurant is full of WW2 special pieces because we understood that the manager is very drawn to it so it's nice to have a walk around the restaurant to check everything...

Déception sur toute la ligne (ou presque)

Nous sommes venus dans cette pizzeria en nous fiant aux nombreux avis positifs… mais honnêtement, on ne comprend pas pourquoi. L’expérience a été décevante du début à la fin.

Dès notre arrivée, l’accueil laisse à désirer. La serveuse, en tenue de sport, nous a à peine adressé un regard et nous a dit sèchement de “monter chercher une place” par nous-mêmes. Aucune chaleur, aucun sourire : on a vraiment eu l’impression de déranger.

Une fois installés, l’ambiance ne s’est pas améliorée. La décoration, centrée sur la Seconde Guerre mondiale, fait plus penser à un petit musée qu’à un restaurant. Entre les uniformes, les objets militaires et les affiches d’époque, l’atmosphère est froide, presque pesante. Sans un fond sonore pour alléger le tout (aucune musique), le silence ne fait qu’accentuer ce malaise.

Côté assiette, là encore, grosse déception. La pâte à pizza ressemble à du pain brioché : épaisse, molle, sans saveur. La sauce tomate semble tout droit sortie d’un pot industriel, trop sucrée et sans subtilité. Seule la garniture, plutôt généreuse, sauve un peu le plat… mais pas assez pour justifier le détour.

En résumé, nous ne partageons pas l’enthousiasme des autres avis. Pour nous, cette adresse manque clairement d’âme, de qualité,...
