Restaurant Brasserie Bar La Crémaillère — Restaurant in Bayeux

Food - we got fish and chips (light batter but nice, chips a little heavy with oil, salad minimal), pizza (tasty, good portion, good fillings) and chicken burger (very poor quality chicken - was processed ++. A mistake on my behalf not to have asked before ordering but I would have assumed a chicken breast for a chicken burger. Cheese was a cheap processed slice like you get at a McDonalds. Overpriced - would not recommend this option)

Service - no one greeted/ welcomed in, eventually offered a table and when we asked can we get one in shade we were met with a ‘sigh’ from disgruntled staff member. No kids menu and lots of sub notes to menu options that you should be cautious about. E.g if you order a meal like the fish and chips (adult portion) because no kids option; you will incur an additional 3€ charge for a plate to then split across the 2 kids. To be fair they staff did wave this charge as we did express our surprise at the additional cost. I have no issue restaurants choosing their price points but transparency is key so that customers know where they stand. With these less obvious additional charges it seems like they are trying to put the hand in.

I suppose with the location of this Restaurent they get enough foot fall not to prioritise customer service. Pity really as overall would not recommend this Restaurent.

Atmosphere - sitting outside is beside a busy road. I would imagine one of the restaurants down by sea would be better. Will do...

After a late detour to Omaha beach we (my 3yo daughter, wife and I) ended up here for some fast supper. The food was mediocre at best (we had a pizza and a fish soup that had no traces of actual fish in it). Turns out even though we had two main dishes for two grown ups (fish soup and pizza) they charged us 3 euros as „punishment“ as the pizza was shared among „three“ people. Yes my wife ended up eating a slice but mainly because the soup was so bad and my daughter is three so am I supposed to order a whole pizza for her when she can barely finish a slice or two? It’s such a petty rule really to be enforced here turning a mediocre experience at best into one with a bad aftertaste. I would have paid them the 3 euros as tip and all would have been well but now I end up writing a review here which is a statement in and of itself as I really...

Tourist trap. Unsanitary conditions. Poor food. Beware!

This place caters mostly to American tourists. It is the only restaurant in our travels throughout France that has ketchup and mustard on the table!

We arrived just as a tour group consisting of 3 buses were leaving.

The waitress was very inattentive and impatient. The food was similar to what you'll find in a greasy dinner/truck stop along the highway.

After the tour group left, the waitresses brought all of the ciders (with the hinged caps), and the wine and coke bottles (with the screw on caps) to one table (at least 50 bottles)... and proceeded to openly consolidate all of the bottles... to be reused for the next customers!!!

Also, the servers only replaced the obviously used portions of settings on the table, rather than replacing the entire...
