La Station — Restaurant in Bayonne

Staff were universally rude from the start. Went to the bar to ask a question about ordering food and the lady cut me off curtly and told me “not my job” which was the closest thing to English spoken. I speak some Italian and can understand some French but speak only a little (I do try to speak French as much as I can). This is part of France’s tourist zone (presumably) and the customer service was nothing short of abysmal. Verre (glass) - (bottled water brought to table without glass), ketchup, tap and tomato were words wilfully misunderstood by staff. The food we were brought was described by my daughter as “disgusting” (I can’t do better) even the chips were awful and after a long train journey in which we were hungry and a long wait for food at this understaffed cafe, we left without eating anything (although we paid for the uneaten food). Delightful little restaurant located adjacent the Gare du Biarritz. Was considering hiking over to the restaurant on the other side of the track (Isabella's) but I would of had to haul my luggage as sadly the SNCF does not provide lockers. Anyway had the daily special (blood sausage on mashed potatoes). Really well prepared. I wouldn't hesitate to visit this restaurant inspite of the marginal Google rating. Soit A défaut de baraque à frites ....sur le pays basque ici ce sont des succulentes frites maison dans le bon jus barquette où a table avec les meilleures cassolettes de chipirons dy pays basque,conséquentes , des plats généreux !
