On our first evening in Anglet, we came across this restaurant right by the beach. We asked for a table for four. Although one was available and not reserved, we were told to wait at the standing bar for about 20 minutes. When we asked why, the owner simply replied: "MONEY, MONEY, MONEY..." We didnât feel the need to tolerate such disrespect and instead discovered the lovely restaurant "Anaiak Sables d' Or", with an even better view, where we were warmly welcomed and served delicious burgers for...

We took a seat at a free table on the terrace, and a few seconds later the waiter, looking pissed off, gestured at us to stand up. He then, without looking at me, patronised: 'there are rules in a bar, and you shouldn't seat before saying "bonjour" to the waiter and asking for a table'. Maybe that's a rule in this part of France; though, and I can only guess, most people in the region probably also expect to be treated with decency - rather than as badly behaved puppies.

This year as I looked to do so again the waiter said I could not sit in the table in the sun which I wanted as he wanted to clear it away, instead I could sit in the covered area. I left. If he canât be bothered to leave a chair and table out for a customer, I canât be bothered to drink there. Shame, because I was really looking forward do it. Otherwise this is actually a great place, but I can only review on...
