We had a lovely evening meal in La Garaudière restaurant. The venue offers various sitting areas from outdoors terrace , open barn area and indoors room with an open fire used by the chef to grill meat.
The service was great and the beef was cooked perfectly. We did not have to book in advance and they very kindly accommodated a little dog that one our elderly had with us. La Garaudière is an culinary gem! Tucked away in a charming corner, this restaurant offers an extraordinary dining experience that's truly unforgettable. From the moment I entered, I was enchanted by its cozy and welcoming atmosphere.

Read moreAfter six months in France, I can honestly say this was the worst experience we have had by far. We ordered two filets medium rare (saignant). What the waitress brought out were two nice pieces of meat that had been charred beyond recognition. She claimed she had heard “medium” and tried to convince us that was what we got, but this meat would have been beyond well done in any country, let alone France. When we insisted, the waitress grabbed the plates and ran away, rolling her eyes dramatically as she left. As we no longer felt comfortable dining, we asked for the check. To his credit, the angry chef didn’t charge me for the uneaten meals, but he berated me for his mistake in overcooking the meat. Perhaps he thinks tourists want overcooked meat even when they order it medium rare, but he is mistaken at least some of the time. Do yourself a favor and avoid this tourist trap. There are much more charming local bistros just...
Read moreIf it wasn't for the great meat, perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious, I'd give this place 1 star only. That's because the service and the side dishes were some of the worst I've experienced in a long time. One of the staff members, a blond lady, was just incredible rude with me and my husband for no reason. She made us feel quite uncomfortable, and prevented us from having a wonderful experience. Now, the side dishes - our poivre sauce was just uneatable and the rustic potatoes and french fries were tasteless. Thank God the meat was brilliant...if it wasn't for it, our dinner would've...
