Comptoir de l'Abbaye — Restaurant in Bergerac

The restaurant was recommended to me and I was told reservation was necessary, apparently this was a popular and good restaurant, so expectations were high. The food was not bad and very reasonably priced, I had a five course meal for 28 Euro. Cheeses and dessert were good. Entree and plat were OK, but not really special. We have been visiting this restaurant since 2010 and it remains our favourite restaurant in France. The setting, food and brilliant host make every visit a special occasion. Everything is perfect and would highly recommend if you want traditional French food in a wonderful setting adjacent to the Abbey. Madam is a brilliant host. As we continue our 6 week trip thru France, it is so rewarding to find a place like Comptoir de l’Abbaye.

The chef is amazing and the portions very generous at very very reasonable price. The perfect blend of quality and quantity. The village is small, elegant and unassuming, with a great amount of charm.

The other great feature of the restaurant is the hours which it open, most close at 2 pm but, here it is at 3 which allows for a little later lunch.

Absolutely recommend...
