The food and atmosphere were lovely. Four of the servers were kind. We had a very strange experience and something I have never experienced in my many years of dining all over the world. It started with, I believe was the Maître d. From the start he made us feel rushed. But what he did after was quite strange. I placed my drink order (the person I was dining with doesn’t drink) with I believe the manager. I asked her which wine she preferred for a lighter wine. She recommended the Sauvignon blanc which I agree is lighter than the Chardonnay (side note you have very few options of wines by the glasses). She poured and left. I took one sip and was not pleased. Had a very strange taste as if it hadn’t been stored well (heat) not sure. I had a bit of bread to see if it was my palette, took another sip and again very strange taste. She came over and I told her I didn’t care for it, was it possible to taste the Chardonnay instead and have a glass of that? She looked at me and said it’s a Sauvignon Blanc and that’s how they taste and rushed off with the snobbiest attitude, assuming I know anything about wine. Then the maître d comes back with a bottle of Chardonnay and I guess my other glass that he had rinsed out. The glass was dripping wet. I asked why the wet glass and he said you’re tasting? Then proceeds to spill wine on me as he pours a small about in the dripping wet glass. I’m cleaning the wine of my dress and arm and he is just standing there with the worse attitude. At this point I’m just speechless and he said do you want it and was ready to pour into the wet glass. I declined. The rest of the dinner was delicious and the deserts we ordered were amazing. The check came and I asked why the wine was still on the bill and she said you drank some and I can’t put it back into the bottle!! I never write reviews, but this experience I...

We booked for a meal Sunday 23 October 2022 as we were in the area to collect some Dexter beef at the market. Fortunately we had made a reservation as the restaurant was fully booked.
They opened promptly at 12am, we were welcomed by the maitre d'a pleasant welcome escorted to our table under a sheltered garden.
Our aperitifs were ordered and the menu was provided.
As it was our first visit we decided on the Emotion menu
Our OUTSTANDING meal started with amuser la bouche,
It was a mousse of Foie Gras in a veloute along with a puree of haddock potato topped with Trout eggs. It was an absolute delight, each ingredient balanced by the others.
The Entree was a Dome de Foie de canard with a velouté de maïs this was wonderful, the contrasts in texture, the mais was crisp and flavoursome, such a pleasure to eat.
The Main was a Filet Mignon de Cochon aux pieds, served with pasta candles stuffed with champignons de mme forester, the pork was cooked as if Sou Vied it was so tender, neither my wife nor I enjoyed the pied de cochon, but it did not impact the pleasure of the course.
The dessert we chose was a meringue shell filled with a chestnut moose absolutely wonderful end to an outstanding meal.
All the staff were polite, pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients used.

Read moreI've just experienced an exceptional lunch at L'Atelier in Issigeac, France. The restaurant was highly recommended by friends who have recently moved to France and their glowing reviews proved to be very accurate. For starters I had the scallop capparcio with carrot juice (not pictured) which was light and refreshing on the pallete, the thin slices simply dissolved in the mouth. It was the perfect way to start although personally I felt it lacked a little zing which perhaps a squeeze of lime juice may have cured. For the main course I chose the veal and winter vegetables with a delicious chestnut sauce which was superb. The veal was perfectly cooked and the combination with the chestnut sauce was sublime, I slowed my eating to half pace just so I could enjoy it for longer. For dessert I went for the meringue in a passion fruit jus with nougat ice cream inside which was a perfect ending. The tart passion fruit sauce with the sweet meringue was a marriage made in heaven and the nougat ice-cream inside was delicious. I had to stop myself from licking the plate! To drink I chose a glass of local Bergerac Les Terres Chaudes which paired perfectly with the veal main. The staff were efficient, friendly and happy to switch to English when our French vocabulary failed us. For just over 55€ including wine the restaurant is exceptional value and I will definitely be returning when I'm next in Bergerac....
