La Chanterelle — Restaurant in Blois

What a little gem. We enjoyed one of the best meals during our visit to the Loire at La Chanterelle.

Our visit concurred with the severe heatwave France experienced with all of the complications that caused. Still all of the staff we courteous, helpful and very friendly

But this review is meaningless if the highlight of our visit was not mentioned. No description or photo can ever translate the full on experience when once is presented with top quality food. Therefore whomever read this will have to look at the included photo’s and then make a reservation to have the same/similar experience.

We were cycling along the Loire when the heavens opened. We saw this pretty little restaurant and ducked in. The two serving people, they could have been brother and sister, did not bat an eye at our bedraggled appearance, we were shown to a lovely table in the window. My French is poor, their English was good. The service was excellent attentive but not intrusive. The food excellent the best we had in three weeks touring. Excellent lunch on pleasant terrace could've spent the whole afternoon here drinking pouilly fume. Staff were great and attentive. I had lamb to start followed by veal then a cheese course then pistachio cake for desert. All cooked to high standard and beautifully presented. Friendly service and good for well behaved children we had our 1 and 4 year old with us....
