what a disappointing experience in an amazing environment.
the food was above average at best. some things we ate were simply worse than what you would get at a random place down the lifts (the burger).
the service was outright horrendous. we had to ask for the same glass of wine maybe 4 times, and it still wasn't brought by the time we had stopped eating. it's not that the waiters are overworked or anything either - there weren't many tables. they simply are incapable or completely unwilling to do a good job. despite promising a "luxury"/expensive experience (you see four seasons, armani names being flashed, you expect some kind of decency), waiters were chatting and laughing next to our table for about a minute (whilst we were waiting for wine and water that we asked for 20 minutes ago).
we asked for a bottle of water 3 times, and got none.
avoid at all costs. go somewhere chill on the mountain and have a beer or a glass of wine there if you want to enjoy the views. avoid this house of mediocre food and outright offensive service. i could give 0/5 to the service if i could. terrible, despite a 100 euro pp bill....
Read moreDisappointing Luxury Chalet Dining Experience We were prepared to pay the very high prices at this mountain chalet, sponsored by Giorgio Armani, expecting a premium experience. Unfortunately, the service and atmosphere were severely lacking. The restaurant was disorganized, with tables left uncleared for long periods, and napkins and litter scattered on the floor. The bathrooms were filthy, and there was no toilet paper—a glaring oversight for a supposedly luxurious establishment. We were seated in a second-floor room with no view, while the ground-floor dining area was much more appealing and offered a beautiful vista. The food was average, far from the level of refinement and quality that a luxury venue like this should deliver. Overall, the experience was disappointing. While we were willing to pay for luxury, the chalet failed to provide even the basics of cleanliness, service, or exceptional food. Not worth the price...
Read moreI have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant L’Idéal 1850, up the mountain above Megève. You can go up there in summer hiking (1h30 from Megève, medium difficulty) or by Mont d’Arbois ski gondola departing from a station above Megève village (10’ ride then 5-10’ by foot/ski). The ambiance is definitely after-ski chic in this luxury chalet with jaw-dropping views. The food is very good: we got dried beef and fondue as well as berry tartlet. Staff was super nice. Only area of improvement I would say is help a bit more proactively the customers with cooking temperature of the fondue as we got too high temperature which dissolved part of the cheese into pure fat. That being said, highly recommended location. Price tag is high but that comes with the...
