Over rated at the least !! Pick up : Free, offered via our concierge desk that made the booking and provided a shuttle service which was about a 10 min drive. Convenient !!
Decor: Nice sandy floor, tables are closer than i would prefer, seats are replaced by tree stump stools, they are rather uncomfortable after 30 mins on them. An amazing art with wall of international currencies pinned to the board. There was an upbeat Tahitian band of 3 playing music instruments, they were peppy, upbeat and fun to listen to, beside them there was an elder guy painting looking at his tab, but his art was amazing.
Food: Lady received us and asked s to wait few mins for the groups ahead of us to order their food, after about 5-10 mins we were called to the display place. It had many types of meat, the person doing the explanation can be related to Drill sergeant, she was speaking with an unfamiliar tone of voice borderline rude to our group, this was big let down, as every person i interacted in FP was always smiling and were truly friendly. the prices quoted were ridiculous, 18$ for a skewer stick of 3 tuna cubes with few veggies, chicken breast with 3-4 tbsp rice and veggies was $35. replace meat to fish or beef option, price changes to $40 - $45 respectively. the meat are fresh and rightly so when surrounded by ocean with such marine species. The process of entry to ordering food took about 10 mins, Now we wait on uncomfy stool for 55 mins before we call our waiter and ask about food, he says it will be here in 15 mins or less and dumped our appetizer on the table, which was not worth the price tag, we had lost our appetite and were about to walk out when we got the most boring meal in whole of FP, chicken breast dry in the middle, grilled with no seasoning and was so tough to chew, we had better meal served to us on our scuba dive boat. It truly over rated, not value for money. Its worth a visit for decor and ambiance and definitely not the food. Please stay away for dinner as host/owner (lady with shoulder length hair and no smile her face) was a warning which we ignored.
They are banking on having so many reviews and work done in previous years by previous generation of locals to make the businesses going with least regard for...
Read moreWe loved our Bloody Mary's experience - both of them! We stopped in the afternoon for cocktails in hopes of a meal, but the kitchen is indeed closed 2-6PM. Our drinks were fantastic, as was the Bartenders service, and we had the whole place all to ourselves. A private dinghy dock for patrons, we were happy to come back again the next day!
We made reservations for dinner the following evening (I wouldn't recommend expecting to get same-day reservations here) and we were seated quickly, served drinks immediately, and then asked to go pick out our dinner choices. A display of locally caught fish/seafood and New Zealand beef, there were probably around 20 different dishes and preparations styles to choose from, including salads and appetizers. I chose the green salad and beef kabobs, and my partner chose Julian's recommendation of one of his favourites, Moon Fish. Dishes with full flavor, prepared exactly how we asked over their grills in an open kitchen - we were both very happy with the quality and taste of every aspect of our meals. My beef was cooked to perfection!
Service was quick and friendly (the restaurant was maybe 1/2 full on this Wednesday evening) and we were taken care of by several staff members - all with a smile and a happy "maruru"! The absolute best part of our experience was the live music: both local and familiar songs were played by the talented musicians. Live music isn't offered everyday, so I would highly recommend planning your visit around the days it is offered.
As others have mentioned, do not miss the unique features in both the men's and women's restrooms. Also, bring a dollar bill to sign and leave on their wall. Thank you, Bloody Mary's, for two unforgettable...
Read moreThis place has been here since 1979. Reviews made me expect a little bit run down location. It was not. The place was very nicely decorated. Tables, chairs and the building in general looked like they were just refinished.
We moored our boat in the bay just a short dingy ride to their dock. The sound of Polynesian music comes from inside. A live four man band plays in the center of this open air restaurant. Their music. Was amazing and they had joy in their faces while playing. Lots of authentic Polynesian songs, but over half of them were cover songs of popular American music like Pink Floyd, Elvis, and many others. When listening, you don’t even realize it is a cover song as it sounds, so Polynesian.
We kept it simple and just ordered bloody Mary’s for drinks. After ordering drinks The food choices are done differently. You don’t have a normal menu. Instead, you walk over to a giant table of ice full of your food choices. The attendant or chef points to each one and explains the meal. Lots of choices. All look great. We each chose our appetizer and main course. we got back to her seat the food was prepared quickly and at our table.
Overall, I expected an old place that you just had to go to because of all travelers go to bloody Mary. They do highlight all the celebrities by their names on the wall that have been here. I guess now we are one of them. The meal was great, the people were great! We will be back when...
