Near our hotel, found this place because we had lunch at the Vietnamese supermarket next to Raj Mahal. We had French and Spanish food all week so we want to have something else. We doubt whether we could order a la carte and it was possible. We were also drawn by the over the top Indian interior! The place is beautiful and clean and the benches and chairs are very comfortable. Albas, our waiter was so kind and very nice, and he don’t need to apologize for his English, it is very good to make us understand everything. Good Flavour of the curry’s, though personally I would like it a bit more spicier. But our children could eat all the dishes and they liked it. But I guess the French can’t take heat that well. Prices very fair! Certainly go and have a try. We had desserts as well. They offered mint tea after the meal, very hospitable. But we were tired and want to go back to the hotel. The two men in the service made our night and deserve to be mentioned, thank you! If we would be back in Bordeaux again we definitely will come back! This area is excellent to stay over for one or 2 days when you have to be in Bordeaux. You can also take away.
One tip for the owner, if you want to get more tourist/ different guests at your place please also mention in large (!) that ordering a la carte is possible!!! We almost skip this restaurant because the All You Can Eat sign is all we could...
Read moreThe staff were absolutely lovely and very child friendly. The whole place is very clean and decorated in an authentic way. It made me feel at home. I was really excited to be able to enjoy a cup of chai (I was hoping it would be spicier but I was so happy to have real chai, it made my day). The saag paneer didn't have real paneer in which is a shame and there was a lack of coriander but overall I think it was adjusted to the french palette.
I really recommend the achar and the naans. The naans are proper homemade ones. I didn't try the cheese naan as it's not my thing.
The desserts had a variety of ice creams and some mithai. The carrot halwa was very nice, highly recommend it and the rasgulla were really good and home made too. I wasn't so keen on the fake rass malai maybe I should have ordered kulfi instead. I could tell it was more northern India/Kashmir/Persian food but I don't think french people who haven't travelled much in Asia can tell the difference.
If I could recommend anything to the restaurant, it would be to have some sliced onions and cucumber with some lemon and some more coriander. Maybe a bit more tamarind and chilli in the takkar.
I recommend and I would go back, probably with...
Read moreIt was a pleasant experience. I paid 17 euros for lunch which I guess the price has gone up. There were actually about 6 types of curry, tandoori chicken, pakora, etc and a small side salad bar. Rice, biryani, also a small dessert part were prepared. All were delicious, especially the palak paneer. It was a pity that the cheese was not real Indian cheese, but it still had a rich taste. Most of the food is greasy, so you'll be full quickly! The staff were friendly and spoke English. About the price, it's not the right spot if you're expecting a huge buffet, but let's just say it's the perfect place if you want a decent variety of popular and tasty...
