La Mare aux Canards — Restaurant in Boulogne-Billancourt

I had heard about this beatiful restaurant La Mare aux Canards, through friends of mine. And decided to try it out when i visit france, it was approx 10 to 15 min drive from paris into a beautiful forest area, it literally feels like u were in a french movie, and apparently the restaurant has a very interesting history, we were actually greeted by the owner Elie, who spoke fluent English which was already a huge plus, the decor is so country French, our table ordered alot of food , I took the rotisserie chicken Wowww. The rest of the table ordered more French delicatessen although I don't eat this type of food, it literally looked and smelled amazing ( maybe next time i will be brave). We had amazing wine, and the desserts were just so different then anything else I ever had the tastes were coming from all angles, the service and hospitality was like being at your family's dinner but one that actually has an amazing chef in a beautiful forest, lol. Unlike some people we left a nice tip since we enjoyed our evening so much. We will be back before the end of the year. See you soon, merci...

Tout d’abord : Très bonne cuisine et serveur au top ! Après, ça m’arrive peu souvent mais je vais raconter … Menu enfant à 17€ un poil élevé mais allez ça passe.. par contre on avait appelé pour demander si possibilité d’un chien et on nous avait dit non car on nous mettait à l’intérieur. Ok.. dommage mais ok. On arrive et nous sommes dans un espace semi-ouvert (1er mai 2024 n’oublions pas que le printemps se fait plus que désire), et quand on va pour partir je vois des gens arrives a la table derrière nous avec un Golden. J’avoue.. j’étais un peu déçue, en terme logistique ça nous faisait faire un détour énorme de ne pas la prendre. Au moment de payer, je suis face au proprio qui semble un peu dépassé (ou n’est pas souvent à la caisse), je lui fais remarquer que cela aurait été sympa de nous prévenir qu’on était à l’extérieur pour le chien, que j’avais été un peu déçue. Son retour a été celui de la personne vexée qui ne veut rien savoir et de me dire « à 350 couverts, on ne peut pas penser à ça », certes.. mais quand on est a 120.. on peut ? :) Il se loupe dans l’addition et elle n’est plus inscrite et me dit 49€ alors que c’était 47,5€, je pinaille mais je lui ai dit « on est pas presse, refaites la », il était débordé et secoué par ce que je lui avais dit. Honnêtement je sais être mauvaise, et là… j’étais super gentille en faisant juste une remarque et en terminant sur le fait que c’était excellent. Pas de chance, juste après moi il s’embrouille sur l’addition (encore!) mais bon « la dame avant a été super désagréable », non seulement il se laisse vite débordé et en plus pas très malin puisque je lui avais dit que derrière moi c’était la même table.. bref, je suis peut être désagréable mais lui n’aurait clairement pas dû aller bosser...

They recently changed ownership.

The specialities are roasted chicken, coquelet and duck. They also have other poultry dishes and they have recently added daily specialities, providing meat alternatives.

They fry their fries in duck fat, granting them a very special flavor.

After the ownership change, I feel the chicken is coming out drier than what it used to. Also the desserts like the pain perdu are not as nice as before but still tasty.

I recommend booking as the place is very popular. Parking around can be tricky too as it in the middle of the forest but...
