Totday we took the beachroad to Spain and made a stop tot lunch in the village of Verbeteren. And allthough we could nog find this restaurant in TripAdvisor we could not resist the sunshine and the availability of a table for two. Looking at the menu you could only think this must be An outstanding restaurant. 18 Euro for a simple starter. The wine that you normally order by the pichet with lunch they do not Serve only bottles zo we ordered a 1/2 liter of rosé for €19,- and two Times the family menu for €25,_ p.p.. The rosé wine was very simple although this was a Collioure. At that moment we should have paus for the wine and go for another restaurant that we had visitted in the past, but then we had to sit inside. The fish starter had 3 thrimps that were cooked the rest was raw 3 oysters 3 escargots (do not know the name) and 3 mussels. The main was boiled fish allthough this was not bad it was spoiled by drowning the fish with the typical garlic sauce from this area. As dessert we had the typical creme catalan. The service was even worse than the good allthough i first thought that this was not possible.
My advise is to go and eat somewhere else even if you have to...

Read moreThe chef should be embarrassed. Calamari was obviously just from a frozen packet. Croquettes were cold, Whitebait cold. Both returned to the kitchen and reheated in a microwave. Whitebait inedible - dry, chewy, not fresh. Their Paella supposedly a ‘house special’ arrived looking like it had been heated up under a grill - very dry on top.
