On the positive side the buffet breakfast was good (many varied selections and fresh), interior was bright and cheerful, and the facility was clean. An English menu was available via a QR code for those customers who couldn’t read French. The saviour of the restaurant was Aurelie who, despite all the downfalls of the poor service/management, managed to keep a positive, cheerful demeanour and attempted to fill all the deficiencies as they occurred (from dealing with reservations, rebooting the computer system when it crashed, seating customers, delivering orders to tables, taking and filling drink orders from the hotel lounge, cleaning tables, taking food orders, answering queries from and giving directions to hotel guests, etc. – seemed to have boundless energy). She was really a superstar! Negatives. None of the staff wore name badges so it was impossible to request them by name to attend the table. Also, they ‘disappeared’ once the food order was taken – not to be seen again, nor the table revisited to see if anything else was needed or there if there was a problem (food order delivered by various employees). On our first dining night, we were seated at 8 pm and our order taken after a 20 min wait. At 9 pm we finally got the attention of our waitress who acknowledged by a nod that we hadn’t received our food order. It appeared about 15 minutes later. My grilled duck skewer was raw – skin side was white and not colored at all and the meat side was slightly browned, interior was bloody (this was not rare, but raw). We think that the grill had been turned off for the night at 9 pm and had only been turned on to quickly complete the order when it was discovered that it had been missed. The Salade Parisienne was delicious. We were so exhausted from the day that we just let it slide. The next evening there were placards on the table offering grilled Thai chicken. However, the waiter didn’t know anything about it and when he went to investigate he said it wasn’t available as the offer started ‘next week’ – nothing on the advert stated that and why they were on the tables was anyone’s guess. We both ordered the chef’s mixed grill special posted on the board at the entrance from the adjoining hotel. Again, the waiter knew nothing about it and went to look at ‘the board’ (3 different trips) - first to the receptionist desk board (different specials), next to the outside entrance (different specials) and finally to correct board, at which point he had to go and clarify it with someone. The actual meal was delicious – very tender steak. However, we never got our cheese board or our drinks (were taken off the bill by the receptionist). Again, no one ever returned to check on our table during the meal. As we had any early morning call for departure, we arranged for a 7 pm reservation in order to eat early on the final day. We were seated at 7 pm – second customers in the restaurant. Although our waiter saw us sitting and he was unoccupied, he never attended to take our order promptly. Rather, 3 other tables were seated in his station and he took their orders before ever approaching our table (30 minutes after initial seating). Rather than being efficient, he took the order (on hand held device), walked back to the far side of the room to bring a carafe of water, returned to bring carafe of wine, returned to bring 2 glasses, returned to bring a basket with one roll (we had to ask for a second one), returned and brought a side salad, and then disappeared for the remainder of the evening. This was standard operating procedure for each of the tables. Why this procedure isn’t streamlined so as to minimize all the individual journeys is mindboggling. The ‘bus boys’ could even complete these standardized tasks freeing up the waitstaff to check on customers. One of the customers had to wait over a half an hour before he came into view as he had forgotten to open the beer bottle! Food was good when we finally received it – reception (Aurelie) brought it...
LAMENTABLE !¡!!...
