They really know how to cook here. Im able to make this opening statement less than 5 pc of my 16 billion reviews so far. They also know how to design a 4/4/4 menu, create a value laden top of table (yes, i included a photo of the linen napkins because they're as rare as a cat in a dog parlour.). The escape escabeche with the octopus said it all. The fish and lamb courses were ideal exhibits to use at a hotel school cookery class (which, yes, i have taught). They were balanced, designed, and executed. The desserts didn't hit the same heights. Though the strawberry soup was a lovely enough suffix. The chocolate coated nougat semifreddo was inauspicious, but the caramel made it all worthwhile. The wines by the glass cover every base. Terrific bread and service complete the deal in wonderful surrounds. It's easily the best restaurant experience we've had...

Had a table booking this evening (Friday night) for 5 people for a special occasion and when got to the restaurant, it turned out restaurant was closed. The owners and staff did not bother to let us know they decided for some reason not to work on the night. Really excellent ! The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location outside the abbey -sadly it was too cold to sit outside. The food was fantastic - beautiful to look at and equally tasty, not too nouvelle cuisine either with good sized portions. The service was faultless . An all round lovely evening. My only suggestion would be to make a little more of the interior decor - but...
