Coming to this shop is always an experience. The town truly reminds me of the childhood story of Hansel & Gretal and the witch’s house made of colourful candy. And after walking the street past the cellars of various Vignerons Indépendants, and passing the prettiest house I have set eyes on, you arrive at Christine Ferber’s Maison, stare at what’s in the window displays before entering to a friendly greeting from the helpful shop staff and overwhelmed by the choice of confiture (this is when I get the phone out and message the missus, “So what will it be?” - because we all know the wife is always right 😉 Today was no different except it was busier than usual with folks coming to buy Easter chocolate (eggs, rabbits and more). Was quite restrained; just three bottles, a bag of dark chocolate Easter eggs and an eclair (as my youngest would say, “Don’t judge me!”) For those who know the poem Out to Old Aunt Mary’s by James Whitcomb Riley, it has that nostalgia of boyhood memories, Granny’s scones and simpler times for me. Do visit. It just might back a memory for you.

This is undoubtedly a must-visit for anyone who loves French desserts while exploring Colmar and nearby towns. Beyond their world-renowned jams, they offer exquisite homemade pastries. The tarts are delightful, and the fruit-filled Flan Pâtissier is the best I’ve ever tasted! As a bonus, they generously gifted me four pieces of handmade chocolate after I purchased 82 euros worth of chocolates and jams. I will definitely return!

Took a short ride from Colmar to this quaint village where you’ll find the most exquisite jams and other treats. The Christmas jam by Christine is so good but the highlight had to be meeting her in person. She was so gracious and kind enough to see my pastry chef friend who took her class in the US twenty years ago. Thank you for this memorable visit ❤️

When I stand in front of the shop, I was not really sure if I am at The Maison Ferber as it seemed just one random pretty bakery. But when I entered it was filled with famous confiture! The shop seemed as it keeps where it came from and that it does not live up on its fame. They also sell other groceries, canned food (which the brother of Ms Ferber makes based on the info I learned afterwards), magazines, etc. The staffs were very kind and friendly and made a good cozy atmosphere. Strawberry tart was also very tasty. Next time I would love to try more of these patisseries and other...

I am often a little skeptical when I get suggestions for world famous food. I have experienced a few times such disappointments from the big names that I often avoid them. I don’t eat a lot of jams but I took a couple of jars as presents from Alsace. I opened a jar of strawberry jam an hour ago and it was out of this world!! It smells heavenly, it tastes deliciously and it looks beautiful! I think I will keep all the jars to myself :-) I almost forgot to mention a wonderful German speaking shopping assistant who helped guide me through a huge range of jams and chocolate...
