Le Bistrot Central — Restaurant in Confolens

An awful experience today with the rudest server. We sat down in the main area and asked for menus. She replied mange we said yes and we’re herded into the rear of the restaurant. We were trying to decipher the menu (we’re English) we have some French and she was rolling her eyes and giving us the look. Then when we asked for a cheese plate and charcuterie plate (both on the menu) she flung the menu open and basically told us we had to order off the entrée page back here. We had ordered cappuccino x 3 and finished them got up to pay and it was 18€. Very hard experience and unnecessary. Don’t go anywhere...

I would like to score this Bistro higher as the food wasn't bad, in fact the couscous was very good but a couple of things let it down. The toilets were not good. The ladies was out of order, forcing everyone to use the one gents cubicle which wasn't clean, had a broken toilet seat and was a bit smelly. The waiting staff though keen to please were quite inexperienced and unsure of what they were doing. A modest lunchtime meal of one couscous, one chevre salad, one creme brulee, one glass of wine and a bottle of mineral water was charged at 47 eur - which was quite...

Interesting experience. What I learned was: -if you want a Cappuccino that is drowned in whipped cream from an aerosol spray can, this is the place for you -if you expect to be warned of the aforementioned cream abomination upon ordering a Cappuccino, this is not the place for you -if you are rich and don't mind spending €5,90!! for a Cappuccino, this is definitely the place for you -lastly, if you enjoy being sneered at and culturally stereotyped by the cashier when questioning the unusually high bill, I strongly recommend this...
