If you are looking for something different... This is it! This place is located right on the beach which provides you with a relaxing view and beautiful sunsets. The decoration is unusual to say the least... There are paintings and drawings of nudes on all the walls. The seafood served is as fresh as could be (the oysters are literally produced on the beach!) There is a small variety of dishes to chose from, usually I would say this is a negative, but in this case it is proof (if any proof was needed) that the produce is fresh. The owner is an absolute character and it is clear many usuals come "for the show". Most, if not every evening a very nice and interesting Irish man plays the piano which adds to the overall charm. La Cale is a Bohemian dream, not one chair matches the other and you have to help yourself to bread and cutlery... But that is why people come! The only downside is you have to pay a slightly exaggerated price for what you get. Strongly recommended if you want to take a break from conformity and the rest of the world...
Read moreI find my spare time looking for good food. La Cale, I have to say goes to my top 5 ever places to eat. The food, location and atmosphere make the dining experience unique. We went as an English family X5 adults, X3 children. Service 5*. The lamb was cooked on an open fire in full view. The moules are the top choice though. Beers are strong and very tasty. We went back again the following day. Kids enjoyed putting in more tips, which the staff stop they're busy working schedule and ring the bell. This is followed by staff cheering and whooping. Live band and live DJ on respective evenings. Rustic seats and benches. Paintings on the walls add to the humour. Staff make the place breathe. Always helping and look to enjoy themselves, which cannot be easy. More theatre than a place to eat. Very busy very quickly. We went both days early.
Merci...
Read moreWhat an experience! We did not expect much from the restaurant and were very much surprised. In German I would say urig, meaning with a rustic charm. It is not more than a huge beach cabin with wooden tables and benches. The menu is printed on a piece of paper and you order at the bar. On an open fire they grill sausages and knuckles. I had mussels, very good, and my wife had galette. The oysters as a starter were also delicious - well salty. You cut your bread yourself. An Irishman plays the piano, the sun goes down and the beer gives you the perfect you the perfect feeling of calmness. Very cool atmosphere. I can recommend...
