Our 1st dinner in Dieppe (13jun2023) was very delicious: the mojitos (1 classic+1 virgin) prepared by Marcel (?) were absolutely well balanced on all the ingredients. They were 1 of the best which I have tasted. The dishes were very very good (fish soup, gambas risotto, turbot & veggies in morel sauce). We were eating on their terrace with magnificent sea & sunset views. Because of the great experience, we went back on 14jun having the same table. The mojitos were still top notch prepared by Marcel. The fish (the dish of that day) for my husband was very good however my poke salad bowl was very disappointing. On the menu, it was supposed to have a curry sauce. When the salad arrived, there was no sauce. I told the waiter (Marcel) & he went back to the kitchen & brought me back the sauce. I poured in the sauce & ate. Definitely not curry sauce but lots of olive oil mixed with mustard & a bit of vinegar. I was too hungry & angry to ask for a change. Maybe the chef was not the same as the night before or coz there was a table of 12+ clients on 14jun? I was very frustrated & sad as this bad experience wiped out the good...
Read moreWe went with a french friend who knew of it. The service is fine but a bit pretentious. Dishes arrive with cloches on a trolley. You wonder how long they have sat in the kitchen!
The prices are high, reflecting the seafront nature of the restaurant. We were seated early on Saturday without a reservation.
soupe de poisson is just under 15 euros. Wow. Should be gold plated for that price. Turbot and Sole Meuniere are similarly just under 40 euros. No thanks. The risotto St Jacques was fine but not outstanding. Portions were not large, scallops were well cooked, lobster sauce not noteworthy.
Another trolley with a selection of desserts. We ended up passing on these at 11 euros each.
I am sure they do fine with the tourist trade, but its a very expensive restaurant with not an interesting enough menu and little in the way of...
Read moreWe were choosing between three restaurants for lunch and ended up going to Le Bas Fort Blanc because of its beautiful beachfront view. The menu was simple and easy to pick from. We started with oysters and mariners’ mussels—the oysters tasted very fresh, and the mussels came in a generous portion. Sadly, things went downhill after that. Our main dish, the St. Jacques risotto, was a big disappointment. The scallops were fresh and looked great, but the rice was bland, overly creamy, and had no flavor. It felt like a waste of such good scallops. Ending the meal like that was a letdown, especially since it wasn’t cheap. Thankfully, the service was friendly and attentive, which made up for it a little. Still, if you visit, I’d suggest avoiding the risotto—it’s really...
