La Taverne du Lac — Restaurant in Digne-les-Bains

Having hired a boat in the morning from Bauduen and visited the Gorges du Verdon, we made our way towards Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon for a late lunch. By the time we arrived (c. 14.30) the other few open restaurants appeared full or, at least, very busy. We stumbled upon La Taverne du Lac which was open, quiet and had a number of vacant outdoor tables for us to choose from. The views from this place are exquisite and make for the most incredible backdrop for lunch in the sun.

We were given a warm greeting and shown to a table. We ordered drinks and requested menus but soon established that the 'plat du jour' was the only offering. On this occasion it was buffalo tomato, mozzarella and pesto with an option to add cured ham. This suited us all perfectly and we ordered 4. When served shortly after ordering, we were blown away by the size of the dishes - the amount of tomato and mozzarella in in each bowl was incredible! As we had come to expect from local places like this, the quality of the food was fantastic and beautifully fresh.

This was just what we needed and we were grateful to have found it. A wonderful stop for lunch which contributed very well to a wonderful day spent in and around Le Lac de...

Incompétents et malhonnêtes voilà comment je décrirai cet endroit vous commandez une glace et un allongé au bout d'une demi heure d'attente que le serveur daigne venir prendre votre commande et il vous servent votre glace avec le ticket a 5€ puis un double café a 4€ que vous n'avez jamais commandé au lieu de l'expresso allongé que vous avez commandé en prenant bien soin de glisser le ticket sous celui de la glace afin que vous ne vous rendiez compte de rien et sans m'avoir précisé lors de la commande qu'il ne faisait pas d'allongé ce qui est un comble pour une brasserie quand vous réclamez a la caisse au moment de payer ils vous disent qu'ils vous ont servi un grand café allongé comme écrit sur la carte ce qui est faut sur la carte il est écrit expresso et grand café qui est un double ce que je n'ai jamais demandé l Le tenancier des lieux n'est qu'un sinistre arnaqueur qui en plus d'être malhonnête et de mauvaise Foix se permet de se foutre de vous après vous avoir escroqué endroit a...

À good selection of beers and good seating & views. But there the good things end: the lady serving us was impatient on the border of impolite, and when my wife wanted to use the toilet she was shown a public toilet further on the road, where even toilet paper was not available....
