We went there for dinner, we were the first ones there arriving 10 minutes before they officially open, we were told that we had to wait in the entrance, which is very unusual for high end restaurants, usually you can at least drink something at the bar. But this doesn’t really matter, just a detail to point out. Originally we wanted to have a later reservation but apparently this was not possible despite the whole evening only half the tables in the restaurant being occupied. The interior design is very beautiful, so I gave atmosphere a 4/5 (not 5/5 stars since the service sort of ruined the atmosphere a bit), it’s good if you want to take aesthetic pictures, it’s reddish earth tone themed. Then we ordered food, I am vegetarian so I tried to order vegetarian food, which there were very limited options for which is also something to keep in mind. When the food arrived, no one at my table was very happy, except for one person who ordered some steak I can’t remember the name of. Some of the dishes had no flavor, others just didn’t taste good, and one person from my group didn’t feel well after eating the fish they had ordered. The service was too overbearing. To give you an example, the waitress had just filled up my glass with new water, I took a sip, and like a minute later she filled up my glass again, even when I said no thank you, either she didn’t hear me or didn’t care, this happened so often what we originally ordered (1 water bottle) turned into 3 water bottles. The restaurant may just have to many servers who then don’t know what to do so they just walk around and constantly ask you things while you’re having a conversation or fill up your glass, or take away half full cocktail glasses without asking if youre done, or wipe the table. This was really disappointing especially if you’re gonna charge this much for something like this. If you’re gonna go here I would only go for drinks and photos. Safeguard your drinks though, you never know who might just swipe it off of...
Read moreI rarely write reviews. But this has to be done. We have been on holiday for three weeks now across Tuscany and south of France. Probably eaten in 30+ top restaurants all of which were lovely and wonderful with their customers. this one has to have made a new precedent for being rude and borderline evil as soon as you enter. You know when you walk into a place and are in a good mood and within minutes the negative vibe by the staff makes you feel a little dread. This is the place.
We arrived a little later than our booking (despite giving notice) and they put us on the ‘naughty step’ by giving us a table inside the restaurant with NO AC. This place is meant to be outdoor. So by definition The treatment To us when we gracefully apologised we were late and could wait on bar for a table (despite booking weeks in advance and having it released!) was abominable. McDonald’s staff are friendlier. I am serious.
When we returned to the entrance area - They called our concierge in front of us (!) to tell them off that they didn’t tell them we would be so late and by that point.
At that point I called it and told our group we are leaving. I have never arrived at a restaurant in my life and left within 5 Minutes. We got our car and left. The sad but perhaps predicable part was as our driver was arriving the manager who had told us ‘NOT POSSIBLE’ for a table outside showed her hand and said ‘we can accommodate you, don’t leave’. Is she for real. Made it super clear we were being punished and then now forgiven. Wowwww.
That made us feel even more sad them for them that they were so unfriendly and confirmed we had been placed (temporarily?) on their black list.
In short if you want to feel like you have arrived at a British airways checkin desk and told you have missed your flight and there is NO other one and told to stand in a corner - Come to Kinugawa. You will feel right at home.
To the owner; you...
Read moreIt’s a pity I cannot give 0 stars. Truly shameful. WORST SERVICE EVER BY THE VALET GUY AT THE ENTRANCE (A SHORT GUY WITH BLUE EYES WHO SAYS HIS NAME IS DAVID). DISCRIMINATING AND PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR, TAKES PLEASURE IN HUMILIATING CUSTOMERS.). Nowhere in the world it happened to me such a humiliating situation. BE AWARE! I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but this is necessarily the case. I went to this restaurant with a friend of mine, without a reservation. Aware that the restaurant was fully booked, we decided to stop by and ask if there was any no-show. The valet at the entrance immediately gave us the cold shoulder, telling us he didn't want to waste time with people who didn't have a reservation (!!). However, he told us that if we passed by after 11.00 a.m. we could have a drink at the bar. (at that time it was already 10.30!!). After having a lovely dinner at a nearby restaurant, around half past midnight we decided to come back to kinugawa for drinks. The same parking attendant waved us to go ahead and park the car, but as soon as we had parked and got out of the car he ran after us aggressively saying that we could not park in that area because it was valet parking, but that we would have to park 100 metres further away, ( two girls in high heels, in the middle of the dirt) . Despite the passive-aggressive attitude, we parked where we were instructed and reached the entrance. But here comes the best part: the parking attendant told us that it was too late and that we could not enter, laughing under his breath! Everything had been done purely to humiliate! It is shameful that two women are treated in this indecent, discriminatory and highly humiliating way by a restaurant staff member.
