La Gloire de Mon Père — Restaurant in Draguignan

When we first visited La Gloire de Mon Père in 2020 it was a rising star and we really liked the food and the relaxed atmosphere; we actually ate there several time during our stay in France. In August 2022 we stayed not close to La Gloire but we though it was worth a one-hour long drive to it.

That was a rather disappointing experience; in 2022 La Gloire is now a 'cash cow' focusing on handling as many clients as possible in the fastest time possible like you see in the US. To illustrate, the waiter asked us to make an inventory of what we wanted so that we could provide that to him in an efficient way. Apart from the hasty atmosphere, the food was not as good as we remembered it. It was certainly not bad but not special anymore. And "No"; putting some strawberries in the Buffalo salad does not make it special.

To make things worse; in La Gloire's quest of having as much as possible tables, we were given a table underneath a tree where birds were dropping manure on us and our food several times. Although this must have been a regular event, the staff acted quite nonchalant about this. They did not offer us another table; they did not even apologize for this; they simply ignored it.

All and all, the long trip to La Gloire de Mon M e r d e was...

The Location is just beautiful, a lovely well surrounded by tables. The restaurant was full but the service was quite quick. The food was heavily overprized and not as good as expected, the truffles on the 42€ Filet were tastless and the vegatarian Linguini nearly inedible. One out of four garçons was really unfriendly, way to fast and actually kind of messed up the evening for us. Apart from waiters stepping onto our dog twice while rushing between tables, we can not recommend this place for a lovely evening with...

Ask for a glass of rose champagne which was not rose and not very nice. Then had foix gras which was completely tasteless then had the “pêche du jour” which was not tasting like turbot and was tasteless with a tasteless sauce with a huge amount of basically cooked vegetable. My husband pavlova was discusting. The all meal was completely overpriced for the quality of the food or no quality at all. To be avoided even if the surrounding in this very old village is beautiful. They are just waiting for the tourist ...
