We visit this beach every summer, but this was our first time trying La Plage Cavalaire. We came two days in a row. On the first day, we had a drink and liked the setting, so I booked a front-row lounger and a table for lunch the next day. When we arrived 10h20, our reserved lounger had already been given away to a larger group. Lunch was just as disappointing. One dish arrived with a hair in it. The kids’ menu isn’t listed and had to be requested. The truffle gnocchi was inedible: overcooked with a strange, unpleasant flavour. We all tried it and agreed. But the worst part was the behaviour of a young waiter who approached my 11-year-old daughter alone to ask the age of her older sister, who is 13, and commented on her appearance. I wasn’t with her at the time. It was deeply inappropriate. When I raised it with staff, no manager came to speak with me. Later, the same waiter showed me a note on his phone with a vague excuse. Walking to the toilets felt uncomfortable, with staff and their friends lingering at the bar and watching guests. At checkout, we were overcharged for both the loungers and a coffee. The waiter corrected the bill. The manager stood beside him but did not acknowledge me. No greeting, no apology, no recognition of the issues we had raised. This place is overpriced, the food is average, and the service is poor. Worse, it felt unsafe and unwelcoming for me and my three daughters. We will not be returning and I would not recommend it to others.

Very nice bar/restaurant directly on the beach. It’s the only restaurant on this part of the beach. Absolute fantastic vibe where you can stick your feed in the sand, amazing view while enjoying good food and good wines. Our waiter was very helpful and polite. However, when we were ready to pay the bill, I asked the waiter to add the tip to the bill since I wanted to pay with a debit card. This was not possible he said. I’ve been to quite a few places and this was the first where paying a tip by card was not possible, only cash. Perhaps it’s a French custom or etiquette, because they seem to love cash and hate cards, I don’t know. Since we hardly carry any cash (since like ages), we could not pay our waiter the full tip. He seemed not amused. From that moment the friendly and helpful waiter turned into a grumpy guy and ignored us almost completely. We left the place kind of flabbergasted and confused, because it felt like we did something wrong. But aside this small matter, we had a lovely evening.

Great beach which can be very popular and busy. The water is shallow with a gradual increase as you walk out and great for kids to play in. The sand can be a little course and does stick to everything so worth taking a few towels and mats to sit on. There is a lifeguard on duty and other facilities available for paying customers. My favourite of this and other beaches in the area is the beignets sold by the roving vendors and are always a nice little sweet treat to enjoy while at the beach, they also sell ice-creams and other refreshments too. Get their early or late afternoon for the easiest parking.

A FUIR !
