Le Maïva — Restaurant in Draguignan

We were surprised with our experience given the fact that other reviews were so good. Service was good. Friendly people, and quick service. Food was mediocre, en definitely too expensive for what you get. We had tapas as a starter. These were 12 small deep fried pieces for 20 Euros. We also had the tortillas, which was a handful grabbed from a bag with liquid cheddar cheese on top and a bowl of guacamole. As a main we had mussels. Served very interestingly in a fishbowl, so looked pretty nice. However, lots of empty shells, tiny tiny muscles. A lot of the mussels had tiny broken shells in them, so not very pleasant to eat. The mussels were very tasty though. Good thing: nice tasty cocktails. We would recommend this more as a bar, to have a couple of drinks or cocktails...

Don’t bother coming during high season without a reservation, they are full. We made a reservation a day before and we were placed behind a pilar, so no seaview, cramped between a podium on one side and a hysterical baby on the other side. Unlucky timing maybe but also a very weird choice of tablesetting.

Our biggest concern was that the waitress was coughing the whole time and had a hoarse throat. She did not wear a mask. A questionable decision in these times.

The food is ok and for Côte d’Azur-standards reasonably priced but...

Fabulous beach restaurant with a very nice vibe. I have been coming for many years. Always a warm welcome from the great staff. Beautiful Bali decor. The food is always good and is reasonable value (relative to Cote D’Azur beach prices). I disagree with the reviewer who states “food is disappointing in off season”.
