Restaurant du Lac — Restaurant in Draguignan

We were staying locally and chose this restaurant for our end of holiday meal - partly because it had good reviews.

The location is great - and we were outside as the sun went down over the lake behind the Roq, and the moon crept lazily across the sky. That was the good part.

I ordered the fish of the day - advertised on a big blackboard in front of the restaurant - but was told it was only available at lunch. My daughter ordered from the kids menu and was given her meal immediately - a burger, which she enjoyed, and a plate of "hot" chips which were in fact completely cold. My son and wife ordered the Gnocchi - which were clearly not home-made, and the cheese sauce was much too runny. My steak was great, and served with hot chips which had been freshly cooked, but at 28 euros I would have expected a salad or some veggies. The profiteroles my daughter ordered looked great, but were disappointing. The pastry in particular failed. I asked if there was any bio wine, and received a blank look from the waitress. My French is not perfect by any means but she had no trouble understanding everything else I said. I asked several times and explained I wanted something without chemicals, but she still looked blank. So I ordered a glass of house red, which I drank without enjoyment. Later I found a bio wine on the list and showed the waitress. "Ahh bio" she said. Finally we had to ask for the bill 3 times, my wife eventually walking to the counter to pay.

It was not a terrible experience, but definitely nowhere near the average of 4.3...

Je suis venu ici aujourd'hui pour mon anniversaire avec des amis. Nous venons ici depuis de nombreuses années car nous vivons dans le coin. Nous avons été servis par une serveuse très gentille, très attentionnée et toujours souriante. La nourriture était absolument terrible par rapport aux visites précédentes. J'ai mangé du poulpe, que j'ai déjà mangé plusieurs fois ici et je ne peux pas expliquer à quel point j'ai été déçu. Alors que j'expliquais discrètement nos pensées sur la nourriture à la serveuse, mon ami a arraché un cheveu de 30 cm de son dessert. La salade César au poulet était composée de laitue, de croûtons de poulet secs "sans vinaigrette César". Je n'ai laissé que deux avis sur Google auparavant, ce qui montre mon niveau de déception. Le niveau d'avis sur ce restaurant a évidemment été obtenu au cours des années précédentes et le chef a changé.😤 Visited here today for my birthday with friends. We have been coming here for many years as we live locally. We were served by a very nice waitress who was very atentive and always smileing. The food was absolutely terrible compared to previous vists. I had octopus which I have had many times here and can nor explain hiw dissapointed I was. As I was discreetly explaining our thoughts on the food to the waitress my friend pulled a 30cm hair out of his desert. The chicken ceaser salad consited or some lettuice, dry chicken croutons "no ceaser dressing". I have oly left two reviews on google previously so this shows my level of dissapointment. It's situated very nicely by the lake, and with a great view to the mountains. A cosy place. I had a burger with french fries, and that was nothing special. It was more or less a bun with meat in-between and a slice of cheese. I think there was a small slice of tomato in there also somewhere, but no other vegetables like green salad, cucumber or onions. Fries were good. Had pavlova for dessert, an enormous plate, couldn't finish, also because it was very sweet. Nice and...
