I showed up at around 12:30pm for lunch. There were a lot of empty tables both inside and outdoor, but the hostess turned me away saying that they are fully booked today. I walked down the street and went to an Indian restaurant instead. While waiting for my tikka chicken entree, I checked out the Le Coq Rouge website. I was able to book a reservation for a table of 2 online via their official website. Maybe they didn't want to seat one person or they didn't like the way I look or dress. In any case, I was very disappointed when I found out.
My follow-up based on the reply from the Le Coq Rouge management:
Firstly, I appreciate your prompt reply.
After I finished a very pleasant lunch at the Indian restaurant, I walked past Le Coq Rouge again on my way back to the apartment. I could see the number of empty tables outside and also the front part of the restaurant. If you are telling me that you couldn't accommodate one extra person for lunch, then I have to question your business model. In my post, I simply stated what happened at the restaurant. If it happened to me, it can happen to others.
You accused me of making a fake reservation. You should be happy that I even bothered to test out your reservation system to expose the "flaw" of the system. There is absolutely no good reason to continue to accept reservations (showing the number of available tables in the restaurant) if you do not plan to take any more customers. In my "fake" reservation, I wrote in the comment that I plan to submit reports to various review agencies, which is what I am doing. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt until your comment about the fake reservation.
My advice for Le Coq Rouge is: Update your reservation system. Don't take anymore reservations than you think you can handle. Put a sign up somewhere inside the restaurant informing new customers that the restaurant is full. It's not a good feeling when you are hungry and you get turned away while the restaurant is mostly empty

Read moreGreat restaurant. The servers were nice and apologized to us for taking a bit of time in bringing the menus. While we waited for our food, we were served two different appetizers, cheese bread and squash cream. The menu I ordered contained a delicious foie gras as an entrant and the main dish was beef. The beef was rare just like I ordered and served alongside a delicious eggplant. For the dessert, a delicious moelleux au chocolat with vanilla ice cream. We asked for a candle for my mom’s birthday and they wrote her a happy birthday message on her dessert which I found...
Read moreI have visited this restaurant a number of times over the past few years. It is consistently an excellent dining experience.
The staff are very friendly and speak multiple languages (French, English, and Polish). The restaurant is always very well presented.
The menu has a good variety, and though it is based on meat/fish, there are vegetarian options. Portion sizes are reasonable - don't expect huge plates, do expect excellent cuisine.
Prices are very reasonable, and they are able to cater to groups. Definitely...
