Having a holiday home in Cagnes, I had great hopes for this restaurant as there isn't very much in the center of town and saw the many good reviews. A year after its opening we finally reserved a table. First a word about the decor, the atmosphere and interior of the hotel restaurant is not quite what I normally would be looking for, it looks more like a modern canteen and very quiet.
For starters we had the foie gras ravioles, well the dish lacked of taste overall, the bouillon in which the dish was served was rather bland. For main courses 2 ordered the St Jacques, this was listed under the main course section, but there were only 3 St Jacques in a rich sauce but no accompaniment, I think something like Tagliatelle would not have gone a miss for a main course. One dish ordered was the filet of beef ordered rare, sadly I knew I was taking a risk as it didn't even come medium but completely well done, of course I could have returned it. Again the beef came with no tasty jus and only a couple of small potatoes and baby carrots, I would have expected something like at least a demi glace style jus. Basically the dishes were not b served the way I would have expected them to be served. The best dish was probably the Dorade which was well served and generous. Staff are very nice otherwise. It's just a shame it didn't meet my expectations, I was looking for something new and a bit haut de gamme...
Read moreWe've been in the south of France for 7 days. This was the best meal we had, hands down. The only bad part is that it was the last meal we had here, we would have liked to come back. The food was prepared fresh for us so there was a little bit of an expected wait but it was totally worth it. We had a beef wellington with truffle mash and a Bouillabaisse both were phenomenal in the artistry and the taste.
Service was also impeccable and personal. Our server was Mélissa, she was wonderful, sweet, attentive,...
