Please keep in mind I am a Californian who is spending 1 month in the South of France, and appreciating the French cuisine. As opposed to the usual audience for this restaurant, I am not a Vallauris local searching for a breath of fresh air from the gems of French dining. I will tell you my honest opinion on Dilettante’s rendition of West coast farm to table cuisine. The starters were relatively mediocre. The priciest one was basically just cooked broccoli with a piece of egg. Not sure what the hype is here but you can make this at home. Just a nice cream sauce to top it off. The terrine was passable. Lemon zest was a nice touch. The babaganoush was lacking very much in the usual roasted flavor. The main course was the most disappointing. It was roast beef so I guess I should have prepared myself for a cold slice of steak but man that was a travesty to the cow that gave its life! It was tough. I couldn’t even cut it with my knife! The potatoes were good and the sauce flavored with fenugreek was another saving grace but all in all disappointing. Finally, for dessert, the peach was pretty much boiled in perfume. Could have done this at home with canned peaches and a spritz of my Marc Jacobs Daisy. Buttttt, minus the mosquitos and the busy road it’s off of, it has a beautiful outdoor patio and a view into their vegetable garden in the back. Anyways, I don’t have much time left here so you’ll definitely not catch me back...
Read moreIve been here three times: first time I tried the whole menu (entree, plat, dessert) and got seriously disappointed with the main course, but fell in love with the other two. Second time I avoided what I didn't like and went straight for entree and dessert, but could see and taste my partner's main course. Third time we went straight for entree and dessert, only that this time the options were less interesting (main courses, for what I saw, were as scarse as the other times). Not sure if they have different chefs for ones and the others or if it's a matter of having the other things ready beforehand - in any case it's puzzling. The service is even slower than in the average french restaurant, but at least staff is nice and the terrace is very enjoyable when it's a sunny day. They accept ticket resto up to 19 euro by check (and not by person, which is a bit strange). All in all an ok restaurant, which can be surprisingly good or bad...
Read moreWent there for my boyfriend’s birthday lunch, heard from my friend about the place so we would love to try and didn’t disappoint us at all!!!!!!!! Not so many options on the menu as they set up their menu for a week or 10 days then they will change the whole set but that wasn’t a problem. We enjoyed our meal a lot. I texted them secretly for a special treat for my bf’s birthday and they did come out with a birthday candle with our desert we ordered. 2 persons were running the service and very efficient. Will be...
