Ici...ou chez vous — Restaurant in Grenoble

We visited on Tuesday 5th August during the night market, hoping to enjoy a meal at Ici...ou chez vous. We hadn’t made a reservation, but when we arrived the restaurant was completely empty—both inside and out. We understood there might be upcoming bookings, and the staff told us to come back a bit later and check again.

After doing a few laps of the night market, we returned, only to find the same tables still empty. Again, we were told they were “fully booked” and turned away. It wasn’t clear whether the issue was the manager, the chef, or a strict no walk-in policy—but at no point was this communicated clearly. We were just told to come back later, and then once again turned away despite visible availability.

We’ve eaten out at various restaurants with our children on this trip, and everywhere else has been much more accommodating—offering us tables with time limits or working around reservations. Unfortunately, there was no such effort here, just a flat refusal despite the restaurant still looking empty.

We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. It left us wondering whether they actually want passing trade or families at all. A bit more clarity and effort would have...

A wonderful place with amazing staff. The team were super friendly and happy to give recommendations and explain the menu/ options to us. We ate the vegetarian steak sandwiches and a delicious vegetarian salad. A little haven for veggie food in a small town. Extremely good value for the portion sizes...

Nous y sommes allées à 3. Très peu à redire. Une ambiance très familiale et très agréable grâce à la famille qui tient ce restaurant et qui met un point d’honneur à mettre tout le monde à l’aise. Une carte avec plusieurs choix, même des végétariens ce qui est rare dans un restaurant de nos jours en France. De plus, ils mettent à jour la carte en en rajoutant une de saisons. Le repas était excellent, la salade était fournie et les frites étaient délicieuses ! Le café gourmand était accompagné de dessert tous fait maison je pense mais dans tous les cas à tomber par terre.
