This wonderful restaurant was suggested to us by our Airbnb host and boy are we glad we listened! We went on a Wednesday night, and though the restaurant had quite a few patrons, there was room for us as well. It isn’t a large place so be advised that if you do go on a weekend, you probably should make reservations.
The food is traditional French, prepared in an impeccable manner… Although… Unlike many French restaurants, the portions are huge! Everything was cooked to perfection, served with style and care, and absolutely delicious. The owner/chef, Patrick and his wife made sure that we were made to feel welcome and well taken care of. Though both of them only speak a little bit of English, and I only speak a little bit of French, we all dove in willingly and figure things out with great humor and acceptance. Now, onto the food.
I had duck breast and it was amazing! When she asked me how I would like it prepared, I told her to serve it to me the way she would prefer. It was rosé… Pink in the middle and grilled to perfection on the outside. Every bite was a delight. My wife opted for the lamb , which only needed a fork to cut it. Everything was simply wonderful.
Also, if you are traveling to Marseille France, it’s important to understand that the French pace of eating and ordering, etc., is much different than almost everywhere in the United States. We are used to that as we have been to France multiple times. However, it was a great “reset switch“ to help us move from our hectic fast paced lives to a more sedate, relaxed, and enjoyable vacation. An absolutely perfect evening for our first night back in France. We enjoyed ourselves so much, that we reserved a table for the night before we leave.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you’re in the area, make sure to treat yourselves to this great place with its wonderful food and caring owners. Our bill, including a beautiful bottle of wine that perfectly complimented the meal,...
Read moreWe were staying at a nearby hotel for the night before our flight home the next morning. I had read some good reviews online and wanted to enjoy our last night in France with a good meal. The restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel, I stopped by in the late afternoon to inquire about making a reservation. The chef/owner was taking a break outside on the patio and assured us we would have a table when the opened for dinner.
We arrived and were quickly seated, the restaurant is not too large and has both inside and outside seating. The menu was quite broad and included many classic dishes of Provence and other creatively inspired creations. Service was perfect and a nice wine was served.
Glad we found this lovely...
Read moreWe were more than positively surprised about the high class dinner that was worth every cent. Not only the perfectly cooked meat and fish, but also the side dishes as well as the vegetarian lasagne were absolutely delicious. Equally great were the salmon and burrata mozzarella tartares as entrés. The ingredients were fresh, regional, ideally composed. Their direct collaboration with local farmers ensures the support of original french vineyards. Guests get to choose between a large variety of selected quality red and white vines that suit with the offered meals. The food at Le Barth was beyond our expectations and we can only recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to experience real...
