Au QG de la mer — Restaurant in La Rochelle

What a waste of a beautiful spot. I think by in large the worst restaurant I have tried ikon the island. Clearly the owner of this place has no clue about what makes a good restaurant, or is just plain lazy. Let’s start with drinks, awful selection. Only Cristalline brand for water, only Heineken option for beers, terrible wine options. Come on! So many great local brand just around the corner and you decide to choose these :(. As for the food, you decided it was ok to use industrial mayonnaise, what?!?! On a 30€ seafood platter… big joke. And then there is the smell of the toilets, next to the kitchen when you walk by to pay for your bill. Oh and they don’t take credit card, I guess that’s a good way to avoid taxes, who still does that in 2021! My advise to the owner would be, just sell this beautiful location and let it be run by actual professionals, you are a shame to...

Put this place on your list!!! The location is perfect! Right on the water with beautiful views in high or low tied. We came here twice and both times the food was AMAZING!!! The muscles, langostine, shrimp, the knife clams even the bread was delicious! Oh and get the wine from the island. So good! There is also a crépe cart out front which has the most amazing crepes!!! Le dimanche 20 août. Un accueil sympathique et un cadre charmant qui ne comblent pas la « rillette de thon » qui n’en n’est pas une, le plateau de fruits de mer servi sur une ardoise (manque de matériel j’imagine car vu sur d’autres avis) qui coule sur la table entière et qui fait qu’on bout de 3 minutes tous les produits sont chauds (pas simple de mettre de la glace sur une ardoise 😅). Un pain sec de mauvaise qualité, un beurre signé rochambeau (la marque métro) au pays du beurre AOP Charentes Poitou., des langoustines qui auraient pu avoir l’intérieur de la tête rouge si elles avaient été cuites. Je passe sur les prix qui auraient été acceptables meme si dans une fourchette élevée sans tout ce que je viens de citer plus haut. Bref, décevant.
