Café Corniche — Restaurant in La Rochelle

I love this place and i come here every single time i'm in the area since ten years. It's an immense pleasure to take a seat facing the sea & la phare du bout du monde and enjoy a fresh pint of lager. Never got to try but they have a very nice looking food offer too.

However I must admit this time over I was surprised with the attitude of different staff members. Tried ordering and paying directly at the bar the first day , thinking that would spare them some precious time and some hassle, I was quite abruptly invited to take any seat and wait for someone to come and get my order.I'll spare you the details of somewhat rude attitude from different staff over the last few days.

The icing on the cake was today when I followed what I understood from my previous visits during the week ( sit somewhere and wait to be served) and was told off quite rudely by a waitress about not waiting to be seated by her. I understand it is a very tough job but it feels like the everchanging moods and attitudes of every different staff spoils it for many.

It is always gonna be one of my favourite spots in La Rochelle. I hope I'll get it right...

Arrived and girls behind the bar laughed at me because of my lack of french, which at the time was quite funny.

When ordering my second drink from the tables outside, the extremely obnoxious waiter got offended when I said 'bonjour' to him and said he was busy serving others. He subsequently came back and took my order which never arrived, left the bar after waiting 20 minutes during which he had served and taken numerous orders.

Venue avec un ami pour boire un verre très rapidement, nous avons passé notre chemin. À la vue de l'heure nous nous sommes présentés pour savoir si nous pouvions boire un verre, un "oui" assez flou nous est répondu. Nous décidons de nous installer. Un serveur arrive et nous informe qu'ils vont bientôt fermer. Pas surprise, je demande donc si ce monsieur a une idée du temps que nous pourrions rester attablés. Réponse floue type "Oh bah vous savez, moi le temps que je range ça peut aller vite" ... Ok, sinon ? "Blablabla 22h00" AH BAH VOILÀ ! Merci à ce monsieur d'avoir pu faire une démonstration de la mentalité du coin alors que je lui faisais justement visiter notre belle ville. Il a été déçu, surtout quand on est parti et que le serveur a commencé à en faire un rapport aux clients qui étaient à la table de derrière.

Foutage de gueule jusqu'au bout. Je suis du métier, en pleine saison vous savez à quoi vous attendre. Et votre recrutement ne regarde guère. Si vous avez un problème avec un employé c'est pas à vos clients qu'il faut le dire. Votre réponse est plus qu'irrespectueuse. Vous ne cherchez même pas à vous excusez, vous rentrez dans le lard.
