L'inattendu — Restaurant in Laon

We loved this hotel and were disappointed we could only stay for one night. Beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Excellent nights sleep in a huge and very comfortable bed ( superior double). The bathroom was small but beautifully done with soap, toothbrushes etc. if needed and plenty of soft towels. The only downside was the shower over the bath which I always feel a bit uneasy using. A grab handle on the wall would help. Very friendly and helpful proprietor. We had read in another review that the breakfast was expensive for what it was but we thought it was worth it both for the presentation and the beautiful surroundings. Linen table cloths/ napkins, delicious orange juice and coffee, great choice of jams etc. for the croissants and crepes. Yes, it was expensive but we didn’t regret it. |Booking in was from 6 pm onwards and we arrived slightly earlier. The electric gates were only accessible on foot at that time so had to park outside, walk in and register and then were given our key and gate clicker. |We are looking forward to staying at this delightful hotel...

Depuis 18 années, je séjourne régulièrement en hôtel 3* à Paris 12° pour le même tarif (135€) , petit déjeuner compris, alors qu'à l'Inattendu, il ne l'est pas. C'est la première fois que j'occupe une chambre d'hôtel où il n'y a pas de penderie, ni même un seul cintre pour suspendre ses vêtements et sans miroir où l'on peut se voir en entier. Par ailleurs, la seule prise de courant dans la salle de bains se trouve à 2 mètres du sol; mon épouse qui n'est pas très grande n'aurait pas pu utiliser son sèche-cheveux sans mon aide pour le brancher.||En dehors de ces désagréments, la literie est confortable et l'établissement est calme. Le personnel est également avenant et courtois.||Par ailleurs, nous avons déjeuné en famille à 12 personnes en qualité d'invités le lundi 25 décembre, jour de Noël, menu de fête prévu ce jour-là et malheureusement, le plat principal (chapon et accompagnement à base de champignons) ne nous donne plus envie de manger du chapon à l'avenir, bien que nous soyons résidents dans l'Ain, ce dernier étant très mal préparé, sec et dur. Seule la sauce nous a régalé, mais ce n'est pas suffisant à ce prix-là. Quant aux champignons, ils étaient secs et durs. Et pour finir, le charriot de dessert s'est transformé en 2 tranches de dessert banal. Le vin de Chably (non premier cru) et le Mercurey rouge étaient du même niveau que le reste, c'est à dire très en dessous de ce que l'on pouvait espérer à ce prix.||C'est donc très déçus que nous avons quitté cet établissement en n'en faisant surtout pas la remarque à notre famille qui nous recevait et qui est résidente de Chauny (famille très connue), mais soyez sûrs que nous n'y reviendrons plus. Nous ne manquerons pas cependant de réhabiliter le chapon dans notre belle région de la Bresse où nous habitons.||Derwich DELAYE, ...
