Quaint hotel with plenty of character and lovely location overlooking the Seine. The hotel was quiet and it was lovely watching the changing river life. ||||The junior suite room, was very comfortable with plenty of space, with faded elegance. The room was very clean. ||||Negative points were - very, worn thin towels that were fraying, no refreshments in the room, eg water or any room service for a drink. The Wi-Fi worked for the first night only. The bed was only sheets and a worn blanket, would have preferred a quilt. The bath was huge, but not very practical as we had to climb over a large area at the back of it to reach the taps or shower attachment. Someone, had been smoking in the room, when we arrived as the separate toilet, which didn’t have any ventilation smelt strongly of cigarettes, which had also been left in the bin.|||| Breakfast was good with a few choices. We had a menu meal, in the restaurant, which was one of the best meals we had, while on holiday. I really enjoyed the fish main course and the raspberry tart. It was nice to watch boats and swans on the river, while we ate. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here, but were a bit disappointed with...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at La Chaîne d’Or for a single night in early October. We were cheerfully welcomed and shown to our room. What a beautiful sight looking out over the river Seine. So relaxing to see the passing barges and hear the ducks quacking. Many of the rooms are decorated based on artists and historical figures. Ours was green and pink impressionist. Wonderful decorations. There is a fine restaurant but being not too hungry after 2 weeks in France, we only ate tasty salads, cheese plates and wine. Breakfast was plentiful in the delightful breakfast room. The entire hotel and restaurant is a historical building located in the old part of the town. Magnificent old building well maintained. Beautiful old church across the street. Gated parking in the courtyard. Nice walk along the Seine outside our window. Reasonably priced. Monsieur and Madame Bicot have created a masterpiece. Highly...
Read moreCharming hotel set on the banks of the Seine. Our room over looked the river which was busy with barges and river cruisers but not noisy. The hotel interior depending on your view can be described as lovely, quaint or tacky. We enjoyed our stay but there were issues. Large room. Bed made up with sheets and blankets, no quilt. Toilet separate from bathroom. The bathroom had a strange and slightly unpleasant smell, probably due to the window not being opened. To open the window you have to climb into the bath or around the bath surround. You have to do this to turn the taps on. Could be an issue if you are not very agile, and slippery / dangerous when wet. See photos. Difficult to close the curtains as others have found as the lining was torn. Fix the tops together and have tie-- backs would solve the problem. The restaurant over looked the river and the food and staff were excellent. Breakfast...
