Le Marbella — Restaurant in Les Sables-d'Olonne

We arrived announced and after waiting for a few minutes, we managed to get a table of 6 despite them being busy, mostly thanks to a young runner (not a waitress) called Lea who was a delight and very helpful. The dirst waitress wasn't able to give us an indication of waiting time but Lea saw us and set a table quickly for us. We asked her to be our waitress despite her not being a waitress and she did very well. She pushed our kids food order quickly so they didnt have to wait. The restaurant is well located and has a variety of dishes to please everyone. The cherry on the cake was really the service which was great, after experiencing many waiters not that interested in earning that extra tip. Our mussels were very very salty though, not sure why it happened but the rest was great. (the creme brûlé was over done though but the banana split was a delight). Do spend that extra tip to show good waiters they are doing a great job when they are! We had dinner at this restaurant during the Fête de la Musique and chose to sit on the terrace. The ambiance was truly delightful—right by the beach, with live music playing just in front of the restaurant, adding a charming touch to the evening. Despite the high volume of guests and fully occupied tables troughout the night, the service was impressive. The staff managed everything efficiently and with great professionalism. I ordered the "poisson du jour" which was a filet de bar, perfectly complemented by a beurre nantaise sauce. It was flavorful and well prepared. For dessert I had the tiramisu—light, generously proportioned, and absolutely delicious. Nous étions 2 adultes et 2 enfants. Nous avons été installés à une table par un serveur et pendant 20 minutes, nous lui avons fait des signes afin qu'il vienne prendre notre commande. Ne voyant personne venir, ma femme est allé le voir directement dans le restaurant ce qui l'a vexé. Quand il est venu prendre la commande et que je lui ai dit gentiment que nous attendions depuis un moment, il m'a répondu qu'il y avait plein d'autres restaurants et que si nous n'étions pas contents, nous pouvions aller voir ailleurs. Quand je lui ai dit que ce n'était pas un discours à tenir et qu'il lui aurait simplement fallu s'excuser pour le retard, il a pris la mouche et est parti bouder dans le restaurant sans prendre notre commande. Nous allions partir quand une serveuse très aimable est venue prendre notre commande. Nous sommes donc resté et avons bien mangé.

Ce serveur hautain n'a manifestement aucune éducation et aucune formation en restauration. C'est peut-être le fils du patron, ce qui expliquerait pourquoi il y travaille encore. Mon conseil, fuyez...
