Alien — Restaurant in Lille

This is our 4th visit to the restaurant and we were really disappointed. Because we had tried the restaurant before we blindly trusted to have equally great service and food as our previous visits. Unfortunately apart from the terrace ambiance nothing was great.

The service was very slow - it seemed only 2 people were handling the service for the entire restaurant “on a Friday night”. It took us almost an hour to get our food order taken. Additionally, we got frustrated and had to go to the bar ourselves and order as well as bring the drink ourselves to our table which we don’t remember was the norm previously.

Regarding the food it was honestly horrible. We even took our friends to the restaurant with us because we loved our experiences in the past so much but we were very ashamed to have even brought them here. The Bao was not even close to what a bao should be. It was just a bigger version of undercooked and thick pastry dumpling. The ramen was served cold and served with no spoon for the soup. The sever brought the food but no plates to eat on. We had ordered a plate of crying tiger the main dish and it was very raw. For a price we paid this was not the kind of service and food we expected.

In a sentence the restaurant is seriously understaffed. On top of that the food had ZERO flavor to be even called Asian food.

Very disappointing and unfortunately we will never come back to...

Not exactly bad, not disgusting, but.....

I have to say, the 'asian' theme here is skin deep, almost offensive to call some of this food Asian - what does Asian food even mean!?!? There are countless different Asian cuisines...and this restaurant doesn't serve any of them.

Again, the food is not bad tasting, but it's as unauthentically 'asian' as is humanly possible. It makes me sad that people eat here and think they are eating Asian food, and I say that as a Malaysian man.

Staff were friendly, restaurant was nice, it's a kind of Instagram restaurant like all the restaurants in the 'good life' group, often better at marketing/branding than cooking food.

Asian food is a little bit more complex than putting soy sauce on everything.... Go for a beer, forget the...

Quand je vois autant d'avis positifs, je me dis que soit je n'ai vraiment pas eu de chance ce jour-là, soit mes exigences sont plus hautes que celles des autres. N'empêche c'est mon expérience : Nous sommes allés suite à un évènement FB "Nems et Hip hop party" censé commencer à 19h. Mais il n'y a jamais eu de son (pas même un autre style de musique, juste pas du tout de son jusqu'à 22h au moins). Un service assez lent : par exemple on nous ramène uniquement la carte des boissons à notre arrivée. Quand on s'en rend compte on demande donc la carte de la nourriture, mais finalement j'ai dû aller la chercher moi-même car elle n'arrivait pas. On a du demander pour avoir des serviettes de table quand on a été servis, alors que les nems se mangent a la main, et que c'est gras. Ils se sont peut être laissé dépassés par un des premiers jours ensoleillés à Lille donc on les excuse sur ce point. Les nems sont posés sur la salade après avoir été chauffés, ce qui rendait la salade chaude. Pas ouf à manger. Surtout que j'avais vraiment l'impression que c'étaient des nems surgelés, je n'en ai pas la preuve mais je ne les ai pas trouvé très bons en tout cas (mais bon, des goûts et des couleurs....). Je ne sais pas ce qu'ils avaient contre nous, mais on avait juste un petit ramequin de sauce à chaque fois (pour 4 personnes), alors que les autres tables en avaient plus. Et pour couronner le tout, le rapport quantité/prix me semble abusé. Exceptionnellement on a payé les nems à 1€ chacun dans le cadre de l'événement, mais je n'ai pas osé prendre autre chose. Ce restaurant nous a semblé assez cher par rapport aux quantités proposées. Est-ce qu'on paie la vue sur l'eau ou leur loyer qui doit être élevé vu la surface à l'intérieur ? Je ne sais pas... Mais un seul bao à 14€ alors que dans la plupart des autres restaus asiats qui en proposent tu en as 2 ou 3 pour quelques euros de moins .... Bref, allez vous faire votre propre expérience, mais moi ça ne m'a pas du tout donné envie de refaire le trajet jusqu'à bois blanc (c'est à 12 min à pied du métro en plus, mais ça c'est pas...
