By sheer fluke, we found this aptly named English tea room, whilst in the area last week. Seeing the name on the building was enough to convince me this was the place to stop to investigate the menu. A warm welcome from all the staff, seeing a clientele enjoying various dishes, and a wonderful charm, this place has the lot!. Easy parking and no doubt in better weather, a chance to be outside, enjoying the views. No worries, we were shown to a lovely upstairs room, beautifully decorated, and given menus to drool over!. I chose the all day breakfast, and what a treat. Items can be added in according to your preference, and what a plate it was. My husband chose the fish and chips, which were of equally good quality, with a pot of tea for 2. We chose a slice of gateau to bring home, all the cakes looked marvellous , it was difficult to chose which one. This place also has an offer for more local people like yoga sessions, it would be easy to visit again and again for such a friendly welcome. Would highly recommend and return...
Read moreI was excited to celebrate my mother's birthday with afternoon tea at this venue, given its great reviews. While the scones were delicious, our experience fell short of expectations. Upon seating, we noticed the table settings lacked a polished touch, with tablecloths and plates that didn't appear particularly clean. We had to request milk with our tea and clotted cream with our scones, which wasn't offered initially. The tiered plate presentation was also missing, with our waiter apologizing and explaining they'd run out - disappointing, especially since we'd booked a celebratory afternoon tea. Unfortunately, my family and I were all let down by the experience. Perhaps a bit more attention to detail and preparation would elevate the service to...
Read moreThe location is perfect with a view of the old town and the main church in the centre. The outdoor seating is on a large deck with ample space for 50 people. The decking has plenty of shade and the height above the town means you can get a gentle breeze to cool you on hot days. The service is prompt and friendly. The afternoon tea is very tasty with all the elements of an afternoon tea including crustless sandwiches freshly made. English mustard on the ham sandwich a very welcome touch. Egg and lettuce. cucumber and cheese were excellent too. A wide selection petite fours cakes and a scone rounded off the quintessential English afternoon tea. Make sure you book ahead as they can get busy due to their location and...
