La Caborne — Restaurant in Lyon

We stayed at le Caborne for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. While the rooms are small they are comfortable and well appointed. What really makes this hotel stand out is the hospitality of the owners and staff. We arrived hungry and tired and without our baggage. Even though the restaurant was closed they sat us and provided us friendly and un-rushed service. What had become of our bags was questionable and since we arrived on a Friday late afternoon we were being told that we could expect our bags to be delivered on Monday. That would have left us without clothes etc for 3 full days, plus likely a wasted day on Monday waiting for the delivery. The owner spent time communicating with the lost baggage office at the Lyon airport and arranged for the manager to personally hold our bags on Saturday morning for pick up. It all worked out because he took the time to find the right person and follow up so we didn't make a wasted trip to the airport. This level of concern and service, combined with the comfortable and tasteful design, excellent food, friendly service and beautiful terrace gets a 5 star review from us. Quiet, comfortable, and walking distance to everything in charming Limonest and quickly accessible by car or Uber to Lyon, Beaujolais, Macon, etc. If you want great service, a comfortable bed, and a quite hotel Le Caborne is a great option if you don't want to be in the city (Lyon) or far off the beaten path with no services or restaurants within walking distance. This is a great hotel for a short stay. We stayed from Friday to Sunday and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. ||The rooms are not massive, but they are clean and the beds are very comfortable, with really fantastic views. The shower was really good too.||I recommend taking dinner in the restaurant - the food is of high quality and was delicious, with a fantastic wine selection. There is a set menu at 29€, which had a great selection - and there are more fantastic views from the restaurant. Lots of people seemed to come just for dinner - always a good thing when locals are coming in to eat!||The village is very picturesque and has a good high street.
