Café De La Paix — Restaurant in Marmande

This is always a favourite spot to have a drink. The terrace is always very sunny, sometimes too much (!), but there is an abundance of parasols to keep you in the shade.

Posh it ain't but it has a justifiably loyal clientele who appreciate great service, good value drinks and the opportunity for simple food around midi. For lots, it's like a club. There is also a symbolic relationship with itinerant food vendors which allows you to get and eat in the bar a plate of oysters or a pizza.

And, in this new world of COVID -19, it is refreshing to see an establishment taking so much care with all the sanitary...

I very rarely give bad reviews but I do feel that some places need a wake up call in how they might be better served to run a business. Our visit started with indifferent service and went downhill after that. It ended with only 3 of our 4 adult main meals arriving and then being told by the surely, unfriendly manager that we had only ordered 3 and that it was our mistake. He hadn't even taken the order himself ! No hint of an apology or any attempt to try and rectify the situation. It was appalling. Its a shame I'm not able to give zero stars....

Je ne mets jamais de commentaires mais là je me sens un peu obligé. Nous avons réservé pour 8 et pourtant, on nous a placé dans la salle avec tous les enfants. On ne s'entend pas. Ça résonne. On a demandé à être dehors, deux personnes nous ont dit non car c'était déja réservé. Tout cela pour que des gens qui n'avais pas réservé prennent la place. On a entendu la discussion donc j'en suis sûre. Aussi un d'entre nous a demandé à échanger sa chaise qui était beaucoup trop haute par rapport à la table et les autres chaises. Le patron ou le gérant ce soir là est venu échanger la chaise que nous avions échangé nous meme, car personne ne s'est proposé de le faire malgré plusieurs solicitations, contre un tabouret sans nous demander si ça nous convenais. La chaise a été replacé à une table vide. Très utile! Même si notre serveur était gentil , les plats n' étaient pas supers et il y n' avait pas de vinaigrette dans la salade! Je ne sais pas si c'est parce qu'on était pas basques mais c'est dommage car on voulait juste un bon restau après avoir randonné...
