La Cantine Ciotadenne — Restaurant in Marseille

We were really excited to return to this restaurant after a lovely dinner yesterday. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite frustrating — not once, but twice.

Last night, the kitchen forgot to serve us our main course. The staff later explained it was a mistake, which we understood — we weren’t in a rush and appreciated the explanation.

However, today at lunch, the same thing happened again — only worse. We waited over an hour for our food, while other tables that arrived at the same time were served, finished eating, and had already left. No one came to check on us or apologise. We were in a hurry to catch a flight and were completely ignored.

When the food finally arrived after an hour, they even forgot to serve us bread. No acknowledgement, no apology — just indifference.

It’s a real shame, because the menu has potential and the atmosphere is nice, but the lack of attention, communication, and basic courtesy really ruined our experience. We left feeling disappointed and...

Sono davvero dispiaciuta per questa recensione negativa perché il personale è davvero educato ma il cibo è stata una terribile esperienza. Probabilmente abbiamo ordinato i tre piatti che un italiano non dovrebbe ordinare mai all'estero ma oltre al gusto soggettivo, erano proprio realizzati in modo non appropriato. La pizza: il forno a legna non è simbolo di prodotto buono se pasta e ingredienti sono scarsi. Il loro forno è spettacolare ma la pasta gommosa perché non lievitata a dovere. La mozzarella è troppa e troppo cotta, il pomodoro non condito. Non si mette Emmental sulla pizza soprattutto se la fai pagare 14 euro. Peccato, con quel forno si potrebbe fare pizze fantastiche. La marmitte: poteva essere fantastica ma impossibile da mangiare per la quantità di lische e ossa di pesce nel sugo. Se fai il brodo con pesci pieni di lische devi filtrarlo altrimenti è immangiabile oltre che pericoloso per la salute. La pasta con il pesce: le linguine sono ricoperte di una salsa che è stata evidentemente buttata sopra alla fine, che nulla c'entra con il pesce. Non si capisce se è besciamella, panna o maionese ma assolutamente non compatibile con il piatto. La pasta va sempre cotta nell'acqua salata! La pasta infatti era completamente senza sale e immangiabile. Il pasce sarebbe gustoso ma metà dei mitili presenti non era aperto quindi non cotto abbastanza. Nei gamberi bisogna togliere il filo della schiena perché altrimenti mangi i loro escrementi. Siete nella patria dell'olio e usate le salse? Salsa sulla pasta? Follia! Olio e sale sono sufficienti nella pasta al pesce. Peccato davvero perché il posto è molto molto bello. Scusate la franchezza ma spero possa aiutarvi...

On 14th July we have got dinner just before a concert. The restaurant was opening slightly later than the other restaurants at 19:30, we were luckily recommended to make the booking for a table in fact was quickly full. We ordered two different pizzas that were both sent back as the lower part was totally “carbonized”. The waitress she was replacing the two pizzas and were better however some areas were still partly carbonized. Good service provided by the staff. During the next visit we will try something different...
