What a joke. We called two days ahead to confirm. The restaurant confirmed! We mentioned it was going to be windy that day because we took it on ourselves to check the weather. We drove an hour and a half to go to the restaurant. We arrived at the gate and were told that the whole area was closed due to high winds. Okay.....we then called the restaurant and they said yeah we are closed due to the high winds. WELL THANKS FOR CALLING US AND ALERTING US BEFORE WEN DROVE OUT THERE! What a joke! They had our phone number but never bothered to call us. Meanwhile it was “late” and everything in the area was closed. Not to mention the area was very sketchy. These people should be ashamed of themselves. BY THE WAY...there was no mention that the bouillabaisse needs to be ordered a day in advance, but I see that previous reviews mention that this is required. This would have been another disappointment if the restaurant honored our reservation as this is exactly what we wanted to order. So if you are lucky enough to honor them with your business, if you want the bouillabaisse, be sure to order in advance. Their awful wait staff won’t tell you when you book. Maybe you should just avoid altogether. Who needs this headache?!

Really just terrible - avoid at all costs. You don’t need to gamble with your...

ONE OF MY LIFE'S MOST MEMORABLE DINING EXPERIENCES. I don't normally write reviews but I was so surprised to see this restaurant's somewhat low rating on Google that I just had to write to share my experience--for their sake! Two years ago, my wife and I made our way down the cliffs of the Calanques and into Sormiou, where we found a beautiful little village and this amazing restaurant. It could not have been more unexpected! I can honestly say that our experience at "Le Chateau" is one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life--from the pristine location (at the water's edge, surrounded by the marble cliffs), to the friendly service, to the excellence of the food prep and presentation (our meals were fabulous)--this place deserves recognition and your intentional visit! We will be returning with friends to the area and plan to cap off our day with a meal here. Truly unique and exceptional dining experiences are rare, so don't miss it. You will enjoy the moment for the rest...

The best bouillabaisse I ever tasted. I have to say I have tasted a few and this is without any doubt the best. The fish soup (which gets served 1st) is super tasty and full of flavours. The second part, the fish is added with the potatoes and that was sensational taste flavours and freshness even the potatoes were amazing. At €60 each for the bouillabaisse it’s certainly an incredible value for money. Then You have THE VIEW !! The restaurant is niched between the calanques de Marseilles so you have the beautiful turquoise sea and the white cliff all around you. Views + food what a combo !! 2 things though you must book for the bouillabaisse and they only take cash. Then the drive is a little scary as it’s very windy and very high. So take care. But it’s well worth it. The service is friendly and efficient.

Incredible place at the heart of the Calanques of Sormiou and the sightseeing from the terrace is stunning. As a customer, you'll be provided access by car to the restaurant (otherwise, the journey requires a 1-hour walk on a very steep road). At the restaurant you can park for the whole day for 5€. Due to the restricted access, booking is therefore required. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is delicious with some very original recipes - i tried the lasagna with scallops and clams, it was absolutely delightful - shells were cooked perfectly, and however the lasagna pasta were also there. Tuna steaks were perfectly cooked. Octopus salad was perfect. The Meli-Melo was also incredible. Prices are reasonable. No disable access.

Make sure you call for a reservation or you will not be allowed to drive into the calanque. This is an option but the hike will take you a couple of hours and is rather steep. The restaurant is good with lots of fresh seafood options. This is a great destination restaurant. Expect fresh, good and simple cuisine. If you come here expecting something gourmet you may be disappointed. But the experience to dine in this beautiful rustic spot with amazing views and fresh sea breezes is worth the visit.
