Le divan — Restaurant in Mont-de-Marsan

To start off the entrees were great! Would have given a solid 4 stars based on this. But.... After waiting 45 minutes, seeing people around us come and go we had to ask if we were going to receive our main dishes. Within 2 minutes they arrived, without an apology of any sorts.

Trout on a bed of risotto; sounding very promising but the fish dried out and the risotto turned into a mashed potatoe consistency. Chicken also a tad on the dry side albeit with a tasty jus. It could have been good, but to serve a plate that must have been drying out for at least a half an hour, the stars we hoped for quickly vanished.

After indicating it was inedible the least we could expect was a complementary drink, a personal apology from the owner and/or a reduced bill, then I might have considered give it an extra star, but unfortunately there was no intention of reducing this debacle.

I’m pretty sure it could have been a very agreeable lunch, but the poor customer service, and the refusal to soften the caused misery through a simple gesture of courtesy left me no other choice than to give this culinary experience 1 star, but the potential and the great entrees made me add another two. Nice location just a 10 minute walk from the fruit and veg market where it’s easy to park. You can sit inside and overlook the river but there is no terrace that end of the restaurant. We chose to sit outside the front of the restaurant with a view of a very nice square it was a hot day but we had plenty of shade under parasols to keep cool. The menu is biased to tapas with a limited choice of à la carte which is fine but I prefer more choice. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the overall ambience surpassed my thoughts on the food. 2024, Le niveau de la Brasserie (Gastronomique !) Le Divan s'est effondré sensiblement. Nous sommes très déçus ! La carte s'est appauvrie, la nourriture est moyenne (tarte au citron au goût d'une grande surface bas de gamme). Le service est lamentable : la soupe de poisson qui figure sur la carte est remplacée par une soupe de légume correcte mais la serveuse ne m'informe pas du changement lors de la prise de commande ! Lorsque je lui fais la remarque, elle me reproche de ne pas lui avoir dit plus tôt ! La Brasserie n'a plus rien de gastronomique ! ! ! Dommage c'était bien, avant ! . . . 2020, Bien caché derrière mon ordinateur (clin d'œil à la première page de la carte ! excellente ) : Nous n'avions pas réservé, et pourtant accueil souriant et très agréable du Patron (?) qui nous a trouvé une petite place. Le personnel est souriant, explique et commente la carte et les pats et plaisante. Parfait ! Puis, du pain au café tout était excellent et très bien cuisiné. J'ai adoré ce moment agréable, merci.
