la Taverne — Restaurant in Montargis

The suit of armor caught our eye when looking for a lunch spot on our way to Guédelon. The food was delicious and a great value. We started with the local cheese with rosemary, Sichuan pepper, and roasted peppers, which was delicious. We also had a white fish, sandré?, with a tasty red wine sauce that was flavorful and yet didn’t overwhelm the fish. We finished up with coffee and salted caramel ice cream (with Chantilly cream) and lime sorbet.

The restaurant, and bar, is located in a small village at the top of a hill just south of the Loire. It appeared to be popular with bicyclists passing through. There is seating outside for when the weather is nice. The inside is cozy and inviting with lots of little decorations to catch the eye, and a house cat who wandered through.

5 ans que je n’étais pas revenu en France… Et en ce qui concerne la reconnection avec ma terre natale au niveau gastronomique, et à un prix tout à fait raisonnable, je crois qu’on ne pourrait pas trouver de meilleur endroit. Repas à la carte avec gastronomie du terroir local. On y vient tant pour le cadre, dans ce joli village qu’est Saint Brisson, que pour le contenu de l’assiette, et l’esthétisme de la présentation de celle-ci est à la hauteur du délice qui s’insinue dans mes papilles gustatives. Voilà, beaucoup de superlatifs, car à la hauteur de mes espérances. Il est rare que je poste un commentaire pour un restaurant, tant négatif que positif. Si je perds quelques minutes ici, c’est sûrement pour en faire gagner aux futurs clients. Allez-y, vous ne...
